'17 TN RB Ty Chandler (UT signee)

Same trollin' routine year in and year out.

This is a big time commitment IMO. Ty brings a running style that leads to missed tackles and long runs. He is a creative runner somewhat like Kamara with more ability to shake off tacklers. I know many want Akers and that is still a possibility. They are different types of backs and I feel Ty is a necessity for this offense.

I know this is crazy but what if butch and his people know what they're doing? I mean maybe they know exactly what to look for for their system? Look at last years class. Sounds like last years receiver group was underrated for sure. All this hand wringing and gnashing of teeth over public perception of our class. If my coach got the players HE wanted then I'll err on the side of optimism. I think he's more than proven he has an eye for talent.

^^this^^ Exactly, I think Butch and staff have done a great job so far with evaluating the talent weve brought in. This is his third true recruiting class, and we went from losing to kentucky and vandy to picked to win the east this year. I think we will be fine.

I'm really curious as to what everyone here would say if we somehow got access to the recruiting board that our Vol coaches and staff use in recruiting. Say they have their own rankings method. If it said on their board that 18 of these 24 commits were 4* or 5*, what would you all say?

"Well I trust the non-athletes from [enter favorite recruiting site] that go to camps to rate these players..." So do our coaches. They go to high schools and watch recruits play. You think we don't have guys on staff that watch tons of film on these players and evaluate based on THEIR RECRUITING PROFILE? If there's one area that Butch and his staff have proven they're very good at, it's recruiting. You don't have to trust them, but you also don't have to be very well-liked with your doubt and negativity year-round. :)

Great job by Butch and co. here. Much bigger, stronger than Hayden and from what I've heard regarding the Richardson kid he's got a long way to go to qualify anyway. Won't have those issues with an MBA kid. Went out and got the best in the state, boom.

Back to our commit. Rocky Top Insider posted this link to a video of Chandler. This block is nasty.

SIAP

VIDEO: Amazing Block From New Vol RB Commitment | Rocky Top Insider

That was an incredible block! I think that pass protection is a severely underrated skill for a RB. Hurd's protection has allowed multiple huge plays including a couple in the bowl game versus NW. If Chandler can come in with the basics already down then CRG will be able to have him up to Hurd's level in no time!

We will have a few current 3 stars upgraded to 4

Definitely think so.

Just for fun I tried a bit bigger finish.

We add Smith, Wade, Akers, Harris, and flip Eze. Drop 3 3* and the K blue shirts. Know where we end up?

262.12 points which would be good for 13th.

Hey Crunch! I'm going to post what I think needs to be done to get a top 10 class but it will be posted in the following thread & not here in the Chandler thread: http://www.volnation.com/forum/tenn...-recruiting-forum-football-talk-xxvi-612.html

I will have it posted later tonight. Thanks!

Totally agree about Hurd. His blocking seems to get lost in the mix because he is so talented of a runner. Hurd is one of the best blocking RBs in the SEC and maybe the country.

This kid looks like the real deal...Looks special in the highlights.Fast, good balance, good feet...looks like he could be special imo.

This is my favorite commitment in a long time. His film is incredible. Pumped to see this kid suit up. I think he absorbes a solid amount of offense as a freshman contributer.

I don't understand why people are talking about him and Akers as if he's the Kamara in that duo. No question that Akers is a power back, but it seems to me that Ty is an every down back as well and not just a guy you use as a role player

They're both Kamara, IMO. Which is still a great thing.

He is. Tandem is the way to go to get some thunder and lightning. But Ty is the guy you want in the game to make a big play, whether that is one yard for a first down or taking it to the house.

Have been excited about him potentially being a Vol since I saw him in the state championship game last year. Special.
