I really just think that a decent portion of those 12 "3 stars" (on our commitment list 5-16) are much better than their rating implies. But to echo what most people are saying, the unfortunate process of less talented recruits being told to "look around" will start once winter draws near...given Butch's recruiting record, he's not going give us anything less than a top ten class. Last year we had a #14 class partly because we didn't have as many scholarships to offer. This year, we have plenty and if our season goes like we think it will, plenty of top tier guys will want to get on board.

Look I know it's a touchy subject but it's a damn message board... I do, however, think calling out specific players and ragging on them is wrong. But we gotta accept that we will have to part ways with some of our current commits to get better ones, just like almost all top tier programs.

I believe you're reaching Tony. Top 10 for sure?

Smith, Harris, Wade, McKenzie, and Butler. That's adding 5 commits. 2 borderline 5*, a 4*, and 2 3*. Good for about 16th. Not even close to top 10.

I think we're much further behind than you realize.

I don't think CJ is going anywhere. The staff wanted a QB in this class and this one isn't spooked by the talent in front of him. Hard to get that kind of balance.

I'll let you do that! :p BTW, I was kidding in the Tee Higgins thread a while back about saying that I was begging him on a phone call to come back to UT. People went nuts on me.

They called me weird, crazy, a baby, & whatever else name you want to bring up. :wink: It got real crazy for a while from that thread all towards me alone.

What was top tier has BEEN gone. This is a kid that can redshirt,develop and learn. Maybe he never starts but is capable of such. Elite programs have these types for 5 years...they can be valuable.

Yes, top 10 for sure. Butch will pull this off. I'm telling you. He did it in 2014 so why can't he do it again? I also think you have it wrong on your calculations.

We sign at least two 5* recruits to go along with three 4* recruits we would be top 10 unless a team ahead of us signs 3-4 5* recruits on NSD.

If that happens, then yes we're not going to make the top 10. Otherwise, with my scenario that I think Butch will pull off we're top 10 for sure. Probably even around #8 or #9.
