I know Fingers usually starts these but I don't see one yet that's up for today's practice so I'll start this one (unless Fingers has one then just merge this). But, we just got done filming and seeing practice so here are my HKV media room observations:

-First, practice was in Neyland (it was glorious and magnificent) tonight but I didn't know that so I had to run across G-10. Luckily, I only missed the first period. However, we were told we had periods 1-4 to film, yet Butch decided at the last second to close period 4 from filming.

-I know the field hasn't been used really, but it is looking great.

-The QBs and WRs were looking pretty good. Guarantano was really impressing me. He was throwing with good velocity and accuracy. Tyler Byrd is still a fast dude. I saw Jennings and Malone each make an athletic grab in the endzone. They were practicing endzone throws from about the 20 with the slots going across into motion.

-From what I could see, the starting O line will look to be Richmond, Robertson, Thomas, Kendrick, Hall

Once again, I didn't get to see much

Updating now....

Warrior and Buchanan both lined up with the twos when we saw them go out for a drill and it's clear to see why the coaches like them.
Kyle Phillips and Kongbo, back in his orange jersey, were the second team DEs, Bituli worked with some second team linebacker. Quay Picou worked with the second team DTs, too.
Fort

Defensively, the back end had Emmanuel Mosley, Todd Kelly Jr, Cam Sutton, Micah Abernathy and Malik Foreman runnings with the 1s. Abernathy was back out of the green and in orange tonight

Offensively, the line had Chance Hall and right tackle and Drew Richmond at left tackle. The middle of the o-line was unchanged.
Josh Dobbs seemed to put more air under the ball tonight and I thought he looked really good in the open portion.
Austin Price

Just a handful of Vols left in green jerseys after Butch Jones said all players should return to practice by week's end.

Only Austin Smith, Jalen Reeves-Maybin, Jauan Jennings and Maleik Gatewood were in green. There were still some Vols missing, though media is not permitted to list the non-participants. Evan Berry was among those expected back by week's end, per Jones.

The safeties that worked most closely with Bob Shoop were Todd Kelly Jr., Nigel Warrior, Stephen Griffin and Micah Abernathy.

Head coach Butch Jones said he expected safety and kick returner Evan Berry and freshmen receivers Latrell Williams and Brandon Johnson to return to practice "at the end of the week."

"Some have missed more time than others," Jones said, "but there's nothing serious. We expect them all back on the field by later this week."

Looked like some guys getting maintenance on the final two a day practice of fall camp. Guys like Jalen Hurd didn't practice. Evan Berry continues to be limited as we works through a tender hamstring.
Obviously after giving up a large number of sacks on Saturday in the scrimmage pass pro was a focus. Quarterbacks and receivers worked routes vs. air. The passing game looked pretty crisp as the receiver unit seems to be growing in confidence.
Defensively, Shy Tuttle continues to work which is a good sign as he's not having any set backs. Kongbo is out of the green jersey and is working a good bit inside.

So the Dobbs "more air under ball" comment... Do you think that means more touch like over shoulder or just higher ball flight in general? We all know how throws in open can be dangerous. Safeties love em.

No way Weisman is not in the starting 5.

Almost commented on it too. Obviously for THIS PRACTICE. He couldn't see well, so I'd preclude that wasn't his final prediction. :)

The fact that Phillips and Kongbo are our second string DE's shows how deep and stacked this team is. Like wow

Jones has stated that Gaulden is working ALOT at nickel. After hearing a lot of these reports I'm getting a couple of ideas about the secondary.

Looks like Warrior is ballin enough we can move Gaulden back to nickel. And Maliek is competing outside more. Looks like Martin is also behind Moseley. Hopefully Moseley figures it out and isn't just a practice warrior. Kid does have a lot of potential on the outside.

I hope they fix the field. The last thing UT needs during a championship run is hate on their garbage field of the last few years.
