Curt Maggitt - NFL discussion

I absolutely understand quite a few folks in VolNation do not like name-only thread titles.

What I don't understand is, why?

A name alone is not troubling...it doesn't mean something bad happened to the player...it doesn't mean something good happened, either. It has no value, positive or negative. It is simply a statement: I'm gonna be talking about this guy, this player.

So why is it troubling for so many? Put differently, why do so many automatically assume the worst...that the thread is going to have bad news?

Is there some VolNation history behind this? Some series of bad-news threads that all had name-only titles?

Just wondering. Would love to hear from the folks who are actually bothered by name-only titles.

p.s. Go, Curt! Cheering for you, man!

i think it's funny b/c i'm pretty sure some people start name-only threads on purpose just to pull the cry babies out of the woodwork and twist their undergarments into a wad.

Personally, I just think it's kind of lazy. I always appreciate it when there's a little more information in the title. In this case, how much harder would it have been to put "Curt Maggitt NFL debut" -- or something similar?

I don't know, maybe it's just the former high-school newspaper writer in me.

Honestly, it's a point that has been mentioned on this board for the past few years (at least as long as I've been posting) by numerous VN members. Just a simple request I guess.

It stems from the butthurt police like the two posters whining about it above. They have nothing better to do with their life so they complain about stupid stuff like that and they're the same people that love to brag about the fact they're adding you to the ignore list so their safe space on volnation will stay intact.

Oooh, internet tough guy I see.

I guess you have nothing better to do than come on here and belittle other posters to inflate your low self-esteem. Is that about right?

This is my thought exactly. Just tell us what the thread is about. There are already tons of threads on this board. Having a little more info makes it easier to sort through what you want to read and what you choose to skip

I don't worry too much about name only threads. But when the name is followed by "arrested", "injured", or "has left the team", then I worry.

I'm sorry I typed "seen" and not "saw". Really don't think it's that big of a deal lol. Some people are never happy.
