About the scrimmage...
It was closed to the press, so there is limited info available. I can say that Kelly and Warrior were both mentioned by John Brice as having very good outings. Croom, Berry, Bates, Vereen, and a few others sat out for maintenance/minor health reasons. Kongbo showed flashes but not necessarily consistency. Richmond and Hall manned the tackle spots and Richmond had a good day for the most part against one of the best groups of ends in the nation. Good days for McKenzie and Phillips. Defense controlled the scrimmage. Callaway was the MVP for the offense if there was one on what was mostly an average outing for the offense compared to an outstanding day from the defense. Pretty much all there is to report today, and that's just because Brice has some of the best ins with the program of anyone.

A great defense can make any offense look average so I wouldn't necessarily read too much into that. I'm excited to see this D take the field and make everyone else's offense look "average" too...

Shoop's defense making the offense think outside the box and giving Debord all he can handle scheme wise

Bob Shoop will make the Vols better across the board on both offense and defense

Did Brice say what he did to garner offensive MVP honors. Would be interested to know. Was really excited when we got this kid. Would be hilarious if him or Byrd ended up better than Mecole down in Jawja.

Shoop gave teams nightmares with vandy level talent and sanctioned PSU level talent.

I cant even imagine the hell he will reign down on teams this year with our talent level.

I speculate we knock out at least one qb in a game this year.

As much as the defense has been hyped since the arrival of Shoop anything less than a top 10 in the nation ranking in total defense, sacks, and scoring will be a huge disappointment!

Watching the reactions of Dobbs and Debord in their interviews, appeared that their heads were spinning in camp. Both reacted with wonderment over the difficulty in handling the various schemes. I like this a lot. :yes:
