'17 TN ATH Jacoby Stevens (LSU commit)

Right. UGA gets who they want from every corner of GA. UF or FSU get pretty much everyone they want out of FL. LSU pretty much gets everyone they want out of LA.
All is true with the exception of Ga kids. Ga kids leaving for UT, Fla,, Fla St, Ala is another element of Richt getting fired.

But UT.... none of the good players in TN grow up UT fans so we shouldn't expect them to want to play for UT, right?

In modern times and a 10 yr drought a lot has changed, but in due time it can change.

Vandy, really?
Vandy is Vandy stop comparing and bringing them up. But if Mason does well and shows signs of improvement like to 4th in the SECE kids will take notice like they did with Franklin. This is an issue that's unwanted and needed for UT because Vandy is always willing to offer kids despite kids having very little interest at this point

Not sure why any Vol fan would be surprised some instate talent is leaving for teams that are consistently in the top ten, playing in their conference championship or that makes the playoff.

The kids that are seniors this year were basically born in 1999 or 2000. By the time they were old enough to play football and have an intrest in watching football our Vols were struggling.

It's august, I'm more worried about how many injuries there will be by the Appy St game than who we have committed with NSD 6 months away. We take care of buisness like I think we will this year (barring any key injuries) and recruiting will fall into place like dominoes.

No. I'd rather hand that sh** to you after your smart aleck attempt to avoid a valid argument. Sorry... but I'm not one of your "lackeys" that you dismiss because you can't handle what I post.

While I and a few others agree with you that recruiting is bad right now. I'm ignoring you for being a jerk about it. You need a fat fluffy pink unicorn timeout :)

That is a solid in-state haul. Deal with it.

That really is a good haul. Higgins would have made a great haul. I'm just not that assured on Smith. Losing him would make it a very..meh..haul. We'll see in a few months.

Georgia gets who they want? Put down the pipe fella.

Don't be so sensitive. There was no intention of being a jerk to anyone except baldbiker.... who was being a jerk to another guy who was trying to have a serious conversation.

That might have been a good reason a few years ago but UT is one of the more hyped programs in the country right now. The momentum toward competing at the top of the SEC is real.... NOT HYPE.

So to most of us regardless of whether we're perceived as "negative" or "positive".... it is strange that more instate kids don't want to be part of a championship program in Knoxville.

Where we seem to part company is some do not want to think about what losing out on great players mean to sustaining that momentum.... and some of us see it as something we should obviously be concerned about.

UT is on the cusp of breaking back into the top tier of the SEC.... I would like to see them stay that year.

As you pointed out though.... winning will solve a lot of things and if not in '17... for sure in '18 when early playing opportunities will again become a good selling point. Not as good as Jones' first 3 classes.... but good.

I don't think anyone on here really cares that you guys think recruiting is bad right now. I think most of the backlash comes from the way some (not necessarily you) like to whine about it. Be worried, it's a natural thing. Understand though, those of us that aren't fretting over this right now, aren't for a reason. There may come a day in this recruiting cycle that we do, but this is not the time.

NSD is February 1st next year. Somewhere in mid to late December is when things start moving and shaking. After the Holidays (especially this year with NSD being on the 1st) you will see a lot of chatter and things will be a whirlwind. That's the time to pay attention closely and worry if necessary. Both for people we may get and people we may lose. Right now, you are all just wasting energy worrying about something that is more than likely going to change quite a bit between now and NSD (and possibly on NSD....like Richmond).

sjt is just a blowhard that thinks he is has a lot more football savvy than he actually does. He thinks that responding with his break every post down like he's critiquing each sentence makes him look smarter. It doesn't, but he thinks so. Like everyone on here, sometimes he makes good points, sometimes he doesn't. The difference though is that he comes across like a pompous ass with his "there is no other answer than mine" attitude and his silly way of breaking down people's posts.

JMO of course. :hi:

Making this argument in the context of Stevens doesn't really work though. Dude grew up in Louisiana, zero surprise he ultimately wound up there. If you want to make the argument about Higgins, then fine.

I am trying to be chill about it now. I have been for a couple of weeks.

Other than harping on it constantly on here with you and your brethren, what exactly comes out of you being "concerned?" I'm trying to understand the benefit. What do you get out of it other than the satisfaction of calling out the staff? Can you personally, after feeling concerned have an impact on the perceived problem? You never offer solutions. Give us some. How doe we fix it? Or is it a problem that doesn't exist except in the mind of those that create it?

Since the only reason I could see his response is because you quoted him. I want to make it clear, I ignored him based on hundreds of his posts. That one was just the straw. And BB is mean to everybody, but in a jokey nice way, so I dont mind it. It helps being here so long that I've gotten to understand the other old timers. sjt is not all bad, over time I have enjoyed a lot of his post...he just goes sjm style too much for me.

We can't be having any of this logic crap on here mister! This madness will not do! You need to change your attitude.

Fretting and biting your nails over a 17 year old boy's decision MONTHS before signing day is the way things are supposed to be. Get on board with it or GTFO!!

:eek:lol:

Good post man. I agree. :good!:

He hasn't actually made my ignore list. When he doesn't try to write a book every post and keeps it short and simple, he actually has good posts sometimes (like most), his style and approach on other posts are annoying most of the time though.

You're right. Most everything I say to people on here is done in jest. When I'm serious, people know. Poor Tonybologna caught hell for almost a week straight from me. He knew after the first or second post though that it was all in fun. We still mess with each other about it on occasion. The baldbiker being old and cantankerous (with Clint Eastwood memes) have been floating around for months (also thanks to glicht)....lol.

Tony gets on my nerves..bad. He'd be alright if he would drop the D4H style stupid proclamations. Cocky stupidity is annoying as all get out.

And all you RF only guys are just now getting acquainted with him. The NBA forum guys all wanted to choke him by the time the playoffs were half over. I dont post there much, but I read all the threads.

Solid but you are counting guys who haven't committed.

But "solid" won't win championships. Saban doesn't get "solid" classes. He gets great classes. McElwain is starting to do well. I am not as high on Smart as some others but he'll get the "new guy" boost for a while.

I guess it again comes down to your hopes and expectations.

I think the concern is more overall than just this guy.

There will ALWAYS be reasons you lose an instate player that have nothing to do with the program itself. But UT only got two of the top 10 last year. Those who now claim folks like me are "whining" (which the only real whining is their responses to someone talking honestly about a problem) were saying "just wait til next year". Now.... "just wait til next year".

It also doesn't help that one of the top 2 or 3 players in the state is actively recruiting in state players against UT.
