You gotta be kidding me. :thud:

Its amazing how much Kahlil has changed his body.

He's 6'3" 315 lbs of ripped muscle now.

Can't wait to watch him play this year.

Not claiming inside info at all, but I've got to think lots of people are downplaying KMac's improvement and will just let him explode and unleash in front of the right audience, say 9/24/16?

I tend to agree with you.

I find it hard to believe a guy who has his physical tools and is in such phenomenal shape won't have a huge impact.

When was the last time Khalil weighed 315 lbs.?

Eighth grade maybe?

Nah he was slimmer as junior prospect at De La Salle. Some recruiting services had him listed around 270-280 as an underclassmen. He really blew up in his senior year though.

Strippling was in the background yelling "lower your pad level". IF KMAC can improve his technique as much as he's improved his body then watch out SEC.

This. If Khalil can learn to play with proper leverage and explosion, he can become a dominant force. That is a big IF. Some guys just can't learn proper technique. Size isn't everything, but it helps. Proper technique (not the Hokey Pokey) is pretty much what it is all about.

I tend to think it might be a motivational tool by the coaches not to talk to much about KMac. He was the Golden Child last year. He had a good freshman season but not an absolutely dominating freshman year. If anything he probably was overshadowed by Tuttle till his injury. Maybe the coaches are doing a little motivation of KMac reminding him how good he is SUPPOSED to be in practice, then braging on the new Golden Child King Kongbo, Jumper and others. A great player, which I think KMac will be, wants to prove he is truly deserving of the accolades. He has shown from the shape he has gotten himself into that he wants to be the man. In high school he did not have to work hard, he was just that much better than everyone he went against. Now he is have to work on his body, pad level and everything else. I just think the coaches are trying to get him to push himself to be better every play. I think KMac has a great year this year and I am ready for "Football time in Tennessee." GBO

He's like most freakishly gifted players who get by and dominate just by physical forc in high school. I'm sure there's been a learning curve on actually learning technique to be effective.

Yeah, I think KMac probably is very motivated to prove himself this year.

I think the conversation last year and during the off-season probably went more like this: "Son, you get bushed too easily, we need you to be an every-down regular, not just in for a few plays at a time, so let's get that sorted through the S&C program."

Having had Reggie as a father, I think that workmanlike advice was probably just right for Kahlil, and he went at it. Now he and the team will benefit. Hopefully, in a big big way.

Go Vols!

p.s. Yeah, and as Fade said, I'm sure there was a learning-technique element to that conversation, too.

he'll have to deal with double-teams all throughout the season, but they can't double-team everybody...:)

GO VOLS!

He standing straight up.

And when a DL is standing straight, he loses.

Body lean and MOMENTUM are key. We called this leverage. Explosion is the snap generated from the haunches/legs; this stops the forward motion of the opposing OL and allows the DT control. Keeping shoulders and feet parallel to the LOS is important. And you don't run around a block, you push through it (unless you are stunting).

Yep. Idc how big, strong, fast he is. SEC Olinemen will use leverage and win. If KMac keeps his pads down he will push the pocket more times than not but it'll be rare if he stands straight up.

His legs were tree trunks last year. Wonder how muscular they have gotten. If his body goes through full transition he will be an earth mover.
