2016 Election Thread Part Deux

It's a ridiculous answer.

The truth is that when this came up she wanted to have her own email server so she could do any personal or political-related emails in a way she thought would remain private. She simply did not consider the issue of email security -- very few people did at that time, and certainly not nearly like people do now -- and to whatever extent anyone was advising otherwise, she did not put enough weight on that concern.

That is the truth. If she could just figure out a way to say that i think most people would believe her.

Hillary's advisers are as bad as Trumps.

I think its the same reason Colin Powell and Condaleeza Rice sent classified emails on unclassified servers -- they didn't know any better.

You can argue that people were increasingly aware of email hacking issues during her tenure, but fact is many people STILL don't get it. I deal with government agencies everyday, and they still struggle to keep on top of it, or to fulfill their obligations in terms of maintaining emails.

I'm not excusing her. She should have just done what they told her to do. I'm just saying that she lacked appreciation for the risk she created, just like Powell and Rice did.

On this issue, 100 % agree. Its been incredibly poorly handled since Day 1, and there is no excuse for her constantly failing to just admit she screwed up and leave it at that -- not keep blaming someone or something else.

She hasn't said it because she has lied so much she wouldn't recognize the truth if it bit her in her cankles.

So it is your contention that she was merely ignorant of proper e-mail retention. Did any of the other SOS have a similar server set up as Clinton?

She's self-delusional enough that she probably nods in agreement when her staff propose these lame explanations. Ought to surround herself with more people that will tell her like it is, that these mealy mouthed explanations sound insincere for a reason.

I don't claim to be a political expert or anything but we're screwed either way. How did we get here? How are these jackwagons in the finals for the most important job in the world? Either there are no better options or there are but we failed to put them in there. Either way its a sad, sad state for our country. Thanks for letting me rant I'll hang up now.

No, but they weren't career politicians to the degree she was. They did, however, use unclassified and unprotected servers. Whether it is in her basement or their office somewhere, the problems is the same -- ease of hacking by the bad guys.

All of them took that risk. I'm saying they did so primarily out of being ignorant to, and dismissive of, the risk, not because any of them were evil. Had any of the others run for office, the same questions could be raised.

They should be and are as to Clinton. In my opinion her weak answers have fueled a controversy that could have been dealt with much easier some time ago.

How about those 30,000 deleted emails and wiped server?

'Splain those please.

Lol.... That was a pathetic defense. Stop acting like this happened in 1998. It was 3-7 years ago. Email security was a big deal.

As a lawyer, would you use the "my client was ignorant of the law" or the "but other people do it too" argument most?

Neither.

I would tell her to just be honest that she did not realize it was that big a deal and really did not understand technology and how easily emails and servers can be hacked, cloned, etc. Meant no harm of course, just did not pay attention to it like she should have.

So if I am in a courtroom, I am honest and never meant any harm, that is a plausible defense? Even if the evidence says otherwise?

The people that tell it like it is seem to have a very high suicide rate.

Now wait a minute. Are you saying that a public official, once they become a public official, forcibly give up all of their personal/private communication?.. email addresses, cell phones, land lines, etc?

I'm sure there would be a lot of people who would believe her, there's a lot of people who have believed her other lies.

It was all done to avoid the Freedom of Information Act. It's that simple.

It was all done so she could intermingle the foundations business with the State Departments. In short it was done for personal gain.

Don't sell her short.

That's my thinking as well. The clintons are masterful at the business of politics. They dont really care about politics but they care about the business they can do from their political power and connections.

Oh, she's not a liar about the reason for the private server, like she is about everything else? She's just a stupid girl like Condi, and Colin Powell and Condi are just dumb n*******? I get it.

Hey be fair, nobody was hacking servers and internet security was barely thought of 3 years ago.
