I wonder how many snaps he realistically gets in a normal game that's close throughout. Maybe 1 series? I still think if they're healthy, you've got either Kamara or Hurd on the field most of the game.

If Kelly carves out a regular role, then he is going to have to be playing lights out. I hope he's that good. That's a great problem to have.

I think Kelly will get around 5 touches per game. Kamara 10-15, and Hurd just north of 20. And say Dobbs ends up keeping it 7-8 times a game. And that would leave about 30 pass attempts a game if we average around 80 plays per game.

Watching Last Chance U... it's like watching a train wreck.

So, who is it that UT got from EMCC? I noticed a UT mug in the academic advisor's office and a picture of an UT player on her picture board. I can't think of who UT successfully recruited from there. Anybody know?

Looks like it's not a secret anymore, lol. My favorite is Tyler Byrd. Partly because he is a baller, partly because he loves special teams, but mostly because I started his thread.

Dust10 gonna show show up on campus and catch Byrd's eye and be all like:

And Byrd gonna be like:

The record for one season is 36. That is still an SEC record and I think it is still a NCAA national record. Tenn had a bevy of great linebackers and def backs that year. Their coach had his own system, and left football coaching for the private sector after the season. Tim Priest was on that team and played a part in the record. You will still hear him speak of it occasionally. Other notables on the team, Jackie Walker, Conrad Graham and Steve Kiner. I was 11 and helped my dad refinish our basement that fall. We listened to the games on the radio as we worked. I doubt if we had the money for tickets that season. Games were not on TV as often as now. Fond memories.

This was the preseason depth chart from 2001. I think this team is probably deeper and is better at several positions. I would take Barnett, JRM, Kirkland, and the entire secondary to start from this year's team. I know a lot of the OL played in the NFL for a long time, but theses guys will too. Witten of course is the big name on offense, but overall the teams are similar in talent and I think this one is better top to bottom.

For you righteous types that bashed Jacket earlier in this thread..Kublanow is a proven dirty player that with deliberate and malicious forethought, broke the leg of our best DT. He is a proven peice of trash that no justice has been handed too. In the words of Doc Holliday..Its not revenge he's after..Its a reckoning. :) Judgement day is coming.

What's up, peeps? What have I missed this summer? Took a voluntary vacation for a while.

I see something about a unicorn had made its way into VN vocabulary since I've been gone.

Dabo is the new raccoon.gif

Unbelievably, some posters are still quoting Dobbs4Heisman and engaging him in arguments

Many posters have lost a lot of hope in the 2017 class and aren't putting trust in Butch and Co's evals and recruiting

Kongbo hype is strong and getting stronger

Oh I agree. I was just pointing out that even if Butch enforced the no conference team rule there's nothing stopping him from going if he really wanted to

If he was on scholarship, He would have to sit a year unless given an unconditional release.

You're correct if he was a walkon

Lovie Smith plane still has not landed.

Not to be picky but i will. Steve Kiner was not on the 71 team. He graduated in 69. Other linebacker that year along with Walker was Ray Nettles

You got me thinking about how many team interceptions we could have. The pass rush will dominate. The coverage is top-notch. Our offense should score enough to force other teams to pass.

I couldn't find a stat for Tennessee single season team interceptions. I would like to know that number to see if we would have a legitimate shot of breaking the record. Maybe it's not a stat that is kept. . .

Record is 36. It's an NCAA record. Won't be broken anytime soon

So true, have a friend of mine that went to the same high school and now lives in the same area, his kids go to the school. He said Kublanow is known as a dirty player and got all sorts of penalties and had the coach yelling at him on a regular basis. Got kicked out of a few high school games in his career there as well. Kid betta have his head on a swivel because that was just a dirty play where he was getting whooped by Tuttle and in frustration retaliated in a classless, dirty way.

Pitiful

MORE: @Vol_Football ranked in Coaches Poll top 10 for the first time since Oct. 29, 2006 ow.ly/3ITu302VEFo

Almost 10 years. Ten years of pain, anguish, and payback will happen this season. The unfortunate OOC foes will be steamrolled. The SEC rivals will be crushed and left unrecognizable on the field when the clock reads 00:00. The Aggies of aTm has the unfortunate honor of being our other West division foe. They will serve as an example of how the West division foes will fair.

The Big Orange Tsunami will wash away all the pain endured by true VFL fans and players alike.

My happy place has always been Tennessee Football. :hi:

Buddy of mine said this is the picture that is on the Georgia tickets this year. Bravo if true ☠

He looks like a doughboy.

Wonder what his last thought will be when he gets hit by the entire Tennessee DL simultaneously?

Our back 7 can contain for that one play.

The dawg freshman qb will see the carnage and transfer between plays.

:)

JMO but I don't believe the key to the season is the 4 game gauntlet everyone keeps talking about.

I still say the key to this season is going 4-0 in the month of September. Win the opening game on a Thursday night in prime time to open the season. Win the biggest college football game ever. Get the 11 year old monkey off our back.

That will be our first 3-0 start since 2004 and our first 4-0 start since 2003. We haven't been 5-0 since 98.
