What are these people supposed to say.

John wooden used to have a saying that if everyone is thinking the same thing than no one is thinking.

It's the preseason. No one knows a damn thing or they'd all be heading to Vegas. I sure as hell didn't have Florida winning 10 games last season. I didn't have Missouri winning the East two years in a row. I didn't have Auburn playing for a national title the year after going 0-8 in SEC play.

i feel like I'm crazy because I seem like the only guy out there who thinks Georgia will win the East.

I agree with you--all except that the puppies will win the East....Fla or UT will win the East.....

The question Doering was asked was if he was buying the hype that UT was a PLAYOFF team....as in SEC champion! The facts usually do elude most on this board--and actually I agree with him.....as of today!

We still haven't beaten ANY upper tier SEC teams since CBJ's arrival...and no--UGA is NOT an upper tier SEC team...they always seem to underperform!

I don't know if we can beat LSU, Bama, or Ole Sis....anyone saying that we could is just drinking the Big Orange Vodka and rattling their sabres....

As I said last year--I won't get on the HYPE TRAIN until we are undefeated or have just 1 loss (to aTm) going into the Bama game....

I don't know when the last time we beat both Fla and UGA in the same season....I do know that it should've been last year--but that's why I'm not buying into the PLAYOFF HYPE....

I do believe it will be a hard-fought Eastern Division....and I do think we have the talent to WIN it....but we have a LOT TO PROVE before we get there....

GO VOLS!

But youre ok with him saying there's a good chance LSU is the best team, despite no reason that statement should be considered?

My guess is that Georgia has always had the talent there just lacked the coach but... I can never predict a 1st year coach to win a division.

Very talented team, as usual. Perhaps Smart changes things, perhaps not. I firmly believe that if UGA is gonna win the SECe this year, they're gonna have to overcome a head to head loss to Tennessee. I think it's gonna be awhile before we lose to them again.

Said Del Rio would have started last year over Grier if eligible. Said he is perfect for this offense and the receivers are very talented and will have a good year. Also, thinks UF defense will keep them in games. In closing, he said until Tennessee proves they can beat the Gators, he can't pick against UF.

Had a logical approach to picking the Gators but his co host still called him a homer.

I find that hard to believe but I understand why it makes Gators feel better about themselves to think that.

this is my fear as well...Georgia scares me more than any other team this year. I don't know why, but they do. It is our most important game of the year.

I agree. Grier is a very talented kid who's proven he can compete at a very high level vs SEC competition. Conversely, Del Rio is a nomad who's proven just the opposite....he's been run off from both an SEC and Pac-12 team. Gonna have to see him do it to believe he's their answer.

Vandy making a bowl isn't that far fetched. Believe it or not they were close to winning 6 last year and have a lot of starters back.

Flame away

Totally agree. They could be 4-0 going into Florida with 3 or 4 really winnable games left on the schedule.

With all due respect, I don't either. Georgia is talented but absolutely nothing about their team concerns me. We traditionally play very confidently against them, even when they're supposed to be very good and we suck. Even last year, after spotting them a 21 point lead, we went on to completely dominate them the rest of the way.....finished the game on a 35-7 run.

I think we come out of Athens with a 2 TD win.

Why Georgia 99?

I've gone back and forth on the board over the years defending Richt, then trashing him, and I went back and forth for a while.

I will admit my bias is from the perspective that I have as a Gator fan.....but.....I saw Georgia get the snot kicked out of them by Florida two consecutive seasons where Florida struggled to beat most teams.

Florida has played 27 games the last 2 seasons and 17% of its rushing offense during that time period came in its two meetings with Georgia.

Georgia did last season, what they famously have done on numerous occasions. There were 4 games on the schedule that mattered. They got hammered by Alabama. They got hammered by Tennessee (damn the score). They got hammered by Florida. They snuck by a bad Auburn team.

They have done this in a lot of seasons. They win 9, 10 games against teams where they have an overwhelming advantage (often by a hair) and get the snot kicked out of them in the games that matter.

The amount of times a Richt team went out and got drilled are numerous. 2007 Tennessee. 2008 Florida and Alabama. 2009 Florida and Tennessee. 2011 SEC Title game. 2012 South Carolina. etc, etc, etc.

Year after year, there is a game or a set of games where Georgia doesn't even compete. They get blown out.

I don't know what Kirby Smart will be or become as a coach. My guess is that in the short term he will give the team something it lacked, particularly toughness, and it will help them win ball games next season.

My gut tells me there is a hell of a lot more talent on that team than has shown itself and that a lot of the talent that is there can play at a much higher level. I also have heard from numerous people that this freshman QB, Eason, is the REAL deal and I'm not expecting him to play like a freshman.

I also think their schedule is extremely friendly.

Been wrong before.

I've been saying for awhile that this is the game of the year for UT. I think we beat UF and a loss to ALA doesn't hurt. Playing UGA in Athens will be for all the marbles.

I should add that I believe UT is much more talented this year....especially in D depth. I also believe we should control the football and run at will. It's just hard not to be nervous for a game that means so much. I feel more confident in the UF game. The game in Athens just has the ingredients for another nail biter.

But youre ok with him saying there's a good chance LSU is the best team, despite no reason that statement should be considered?

When he was asked about the Hype for LSU on a scale of 1-10...he said middle of road at around 5......and that's when I quit listening to him and went to mow the lawn....

No one in the West is gonna beat Bama except maybe Ole Sis....Bama still has to be the favorite to win the SEC....like Ric Flair used to say--"You gotta beat da man to be da man!" Whoooooo...... I think we can beat Bama this year for the first time in years!

But we gotta take care of Fla and UGA first...

I was really interested to see what he would say about us and the hype for us to be a playoff team....and really expected his answer of about 3.....

He's an idiot--just like Collinsworth....the only one worse than those two is Danny Kanell........but as 99 said....what else should we expect anyone to say until we actually BEAT Fla?

I just saw that. The question was: On a scale from 1-10, how much do you buy the hype that Tennessee will go the SECCG?

Chris Douching answered, 3.

Then he called out all of the close losses from last year, and said worry about beating Florida first.

Now, I don't disagree with the "worry about UF first" sentiment, but coming from a former Gator WR, his intentions in saying that were completely transparent.

And his reasoning being "Oh they couldn't win close games last year" like WE HAVEN'T HIRED A TOP-3 DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR AND A NEW TIGHT ENDS COACH TO HELP THE PASSING GAME OVER THE OFFSEASON. Like yeah, we've hit our ceiling by winning 9 and losing the games that matter, and no upgrade could ever in any way improve our record.

What a friggin' douchelord. I'm really struggling to not use profanity right now.

I think they go 4-8 again. For them to get to 6 wins, they will have to win 2 out of these 4: Home South Carolina, At Georgia Tech, At Kentucky or At Missouri.

I don't see it happening.

It probably won't happen because, you know, they're Vanderbilt. But 6-6 is possible. They should have beaten Florida last year, as ridiculous as that sounds. I could see them winning: USC, MTSU, WKU, UK, Tenn St, Missouri. They could also lose one of those but sneak up on someone else and steal one.

Funny side note. When you google "Vanderbilt schedule" an academic schedule shows up first.

You'd think SEC Network would not hire these clowns who cannot let old rivalries die and keep the bias from their playing days. Hopefully this clown will not last past this year...of course I had hoped that last year as well....

BTW he basically said Vols are overhyped YET said Vandy would be in a bowl game. All credibility is lost...

Tennessee has been "back" since 2006, no one is buying the hype until its proven on the field. Want people to stop picking Florida, then beat them.

It seems to me most of the people saying things like that about us don't seem to know much about this team. What amazes me is that people won't look at the current two teams and just compare them and say what they think instead it is until we beat them we can't. If you stripped away the names and logos and they had to do a blind comparison no one would pick Florida.

Just my opinion but I have a feeling this team has had enough of this crap and is drawing a line in the sand.....it ends now. Personally I think Florida is scared and keeps talking up the 11 in a row thinking they are getting in our heads and will psych us into another loss but in reality they are just pissing us off. The media's constant mentioning of it too. Keep it up I remember when we played them the first time after Doug Dickie left and they were so fired up no way they were losing.

And what is it that the so called expert Gary Danielson said the other day ? Something about Missouri ?
