2016 Election Thread Part Deux

Minus a colossal faux pas, I think he wins.
I agree, and if he wins, I think he moves the Republican Party away from social conservatism and military interventionism. The tent will get bigger, although some diehards may get disgusted and leave. I just hope the party become fiscally conservative. They talk a good game, but.......

I think you're spot on.

Do you think the top level execs at Ford know how to run the machinery on the floor at the manufacturing plant?

Do you know how to rebuild a CAT 3406?

No to both. You hire the right people to do it for you.

You're missing part of the point. First I'll address your point...

The President needs to have at least a basic understanding of economics, particularly anything related to trade because that is where he is most empowered.

If he doesn't know anything NAFTA, why is he saying he'd change it? Doesn't that trouble you?

We think alike on more than you realize. I think that this is more of a revival of the Eisenhower/Nixon/Rockefeller type of Republicanism. I'm just not sure that the social conservatives know what they are getting yet. The far wings of each party really never get everything they want, which is for the best.

That is why the Pres has advisers. However, I would feel pretty sure that a man who has been in business for as long as Trump has, has a "basic understanding of economics." Maybe not every nuance in every book, but he knows more than most from a practical standpoint.

He doesn't have to understand every nuance, I agree. I also agree that it's fine that he has advisers to help him make the right decisions.

My problem is trade diplomacy is one thing he needs to be a master of, and he's threatening established agreements without good reason.

It's not all about the economics of it. This is terrible from a leadership and relations standpoint.

On top of his business experience, the guy has an Economics degree from Wharton. I think he'll be fine.

Donald Trump just made a big fool of himself today by confusing Sen. Tim Kaine (VA) with Former Gov. Tom Kean (NJ) - a Republican for crying out loud!.... He went on and on and on about what a lousy governor Tim Kaine of New Jersey was and didn't realize his error even as he was being laughed at by his crowd. Sen. Kaine mocked him over it unmercifully. Unbelievable.

If Hillary ever has a press conference I'm sure we'll have some good lol material.

8188 how hard was it to get freak to change your screen name?

I have no idea what this means... but I do the know the difference between a Democratic Senator and a Republican Governor - unlike Trump.

That's just being unprepared and unprofessional. No excuse for that.

Nice comeback... Will he accuse Hillary of being a lousy Republican Governor as well? Trump is always so unprepared... Unbelievable!

He clearly meant to say Virginia. He knows Tom Kean who was Gov of NJ when Trump was doing a lot of work in Atlantic City
