I've seen Malone drop many ball he should catch. He doesn't have natural receiver skills like Preston Williams.

He's not an elite talent no matter what those recruiting sites said.

Well, that makes you wonder how much trust we can put into ANY of them. I agree with what Josh Malone has showed thus far he's nowhere near an elite player.

I've seen quite a few 3* prospects play better than he has at UT. He still has another season though to prove us wrong but like you said he's not an elite athlete.

Preston Williams on the other hand is & I believe Tyler Byrd by midseason will show his elite ability at WR & possibly special teams.

All the other WR's will be guys to fill in & give the others some breaks/rest. Jennings is an elite athlete but he's not an elite WR. Byrd will pass him on the depth chart by mideseason or before. Josh Smith will be a guy we can use for dependability.

I don't expect him to outrun everybody but he's a precise route runner. Preston will have to be the top guy at WR though for us to have a successful passing game. Kamara out of the backfield as well.

The ONLY thing Jalen doesn't have is home run break away speed.

I don't think you can even say that. How many chances has he had to even get in the open field?

Our o-line rarely opens up those caverns guys like Fournette and Henry got last year.

You guys will be surprised at what he does this year with competent blocking.

True. But that's kind of a big deal if you're gonna be considered an elite running back.

Le'Veon Bell says hi.

Plus, Jalen is plenty fast in the open field. See his receiving TD vs Kentucky.

And FYI, the most important attribute for a RB isn't long range speed. Its ACCELERATION through the hole. And that's where Jalen is a cheat code. A man who is 6'4" 240 shouldn't have acceleration like he does.

Remember how he hit the edge versus Alabama?

That's why he performed better against them than Fournette. Hurd's size, strength, and speed combo has not been seen at the RB position.

Watch him blow up this season.

Would love to see 6-7 while he's at it. I think if he shows he has that as an element of his game, and as a result pushes his avg yards per carry to 5.5-6.0, then both his Heisman and his NFL draft stock will soar.

You just said he doesn't. So which is it?

Hurd has everything you want in a RB. Our weak o-line is the only thing that has held him back.

Once they improve this year, we'll finally see Hurd's full potential.

For anyone interested Albert Haynesworth is at wasabi right now and I asked him if he though Hurd was gonna step on any face mask this year 😂 LOL!!!

I mean, you basically expected him to be the best RB of all time while playing behind a terrible OL his first year and a meh OL his second year. All of this while playing in a spread system that in all honesty doesn't best highlight his skills.

You're expectations of him were completely unreasonable.

Good to see there are actually some astute football minds on here.

Jalen showed us during the bowl game what he's truly capable of. We finally let him take handoffs from the I-formation and gave him some decent blocking. And what did he do? He showed out.

He looked plenty explosive that game.

No I didn't and no they weren't IMO.

I expected more than 4.5 yards per carry and I expected that he would be able to outrun a linebacker or safety once he got to the second level.

I expected that after two full seasons and nearly 500 total carries that he'd have several long, 50+ yard TD runs... he has none at this point.

What we have is a very tough, very talented, very hard-nosed runner who has outstanding hands for catching balls out of the backfield and is great in pass pro. He's most of what I expected because he's outstanding. I just thought he'd be an elite back and I don't think he is. Jmo.

When has he ever been caught by a linebacker?

And FYI, football isn't a one man game. If your o-line sucks, you're not gonna average that many ypc.

Tough day in middle school? Are you having a tough time comprehending?

He hasn't shown the ability to break off a long TD run. Period. I'm simply sharing in the other poster's optimism and hoping that he has developed further and shows an element that pretty much all elite running backs have.....the one that keeps him at the very, very good but not elite level.

Did you get that? I hope he, after a lot of hard work in the offseason, is now able to break off long TD runs. Kinda like I hope Dobbs, after a lot of hard work in the offseason, is now able to complete a forward pass further than 5 yards downfield.

Agree.

My husband trusts me completely, but he certainly wouldn't laugh off a comment like that or join in by calling me a flirt.

Muschamp is an ass, so no surprise there. Agree with another poster - just a wuss reply by Dabo.

All I'm saying is I don't think it would have been worth going nuts over. Disrespectful yes, maybe they can settle it privately.

Their OL has a good chance to stay the same/improve from last year. They added a 2X all conference OT from rhode island and 3 other starters are returning.

A Jancek led defense allowed 17 points last year. UGA scored 14 points on a kick return and a fumble return. A Shoop led defense will do just fine against them.

Oh, don't get me wrong. I wasn't predicting them to be able to move the ball on us. I just don't think their OL will regress.

Also Smart publicly questioned the strength of his interior DL. Don't know if that's a coaching tool or he's actually speculating, but it doesn't sound that great for them.
