Is Josh Dobbs the Most underrated player in the nation?

This.

I know KBVol wants to blame Dobbs for that loss but that was a very weird game.

The only game from last year I didn't watch twice. Evaluating how guys played that game was worthless because they didn't play with the same passion.

We definitely lost twice to Florida last year.

I didn't blame Dobbs for the loss. Specifically said what I said the way I said it so that I wouldn't actually say "Dobbs lost that game", because he didn't.

But the truth is, 100%, that our offensive game plan was to try and beat the worst pass defense in the SEC with Josh throwing from the pocket, and it didn't work. When I rewatched the game earlier this summer, I thought Josh actually threw it pretty well. But he only ran it 7 times because he threw it 36 times and, as a result, our offense wasn't very productive, only scored 13 points. We got away from the running game altogether in the second half and couldn't sustain drives.

So, to sum up and remind you what the original point of the post was.....Arkansas was a game in which Dobbs was given the opportunity by the coaches to "win the game", where the game was, as you say, " put in his hands".....and we lost the game.

One man can't win a game.

The team played with no passion that game. You keep wanting to blame Josh but I remember Preston fumbling in the redzone of what was a sure scoring drive. Medley also missed another makeable FG that game. The defense let Arkansas run is ragged controlling most of the possesion in the second half.

If Arkansas is the only thing you can pin on Josh it just shows how desperate you are.

That game was lost because Butch Jones and the coaching staff failed the players against Oklahoma and Florida.

The kids were simply out of it that day.

You're the one who has discussed games that the coaches "put in Josh's hands". You've mentioned his two best games as a Vol where he was outstanding in putting up huge production and leading Tennessee to great comeback wins. You conveniently forgot to mention a game that we lost last year where they "put it in his hands" again via the offensive game plan. Just pointing that out.

I personally don't count that game against any player.

Like I said Preston fumbled in the end zone. That doesn't cloud my faith in his ability. Barnett, Reeves-Maybin, and Cam were no shows that day. Arkansas controlled possesion and moved the ball at will on us. Doesn't mean I think our defense sucks.

I know you like to slight Josh every chance you can get. And the Arkansas game is nice ammunition for you. However, all reasonable Vols fans know that was another team that played that night. It wasn't the same team 119 we saw for every other SEC game last year.

In many ways the performance was as uninspired as the North Texas game we won 24-0. That was another horrible performance by Dobbs that coincided with horrible overall team performance cause our guys were uninspired.

1. I agree with your general assessment of the game. Despite a quick start, the team played uninspired and, as usual, surrendered a 2-score lead.

2. Preston did not fumble in the end zone, it was at the 9 yard line. Also, Arky punted the next possession after gaining only 12 yards, so they didn't get any points, nor did they flip the field. So while it was a bad play by a freshman that surely cost us points, it happened in the second quarter and surely didn't cost us the game.

3. I don't like to slight Josh at all. Unfortunately, he becomes the pawn in most discussions with you. He actually threw the ball pretty well that night, even better than his statistics IMO.

4. Frame it however you want, the offensive game plan was to let Josh beat a bad Arky pass defense from the pocket....and that game plan only yielded 13 offensive points and ultimately failed.

Only guy that stood out vs Arkansas was Evan Berry

Hurd had a great first half, 92-93 yards iirc. But then got only 4-5 carries the second half and finished with less than 100 yards. For some reason, Butch and DeBord just forced the passing game, probably because Arkys pass D was last in the conference, and as we saw, it didn't pay off.

Bomani Jones doesn't think so
