Then why take them in the first played?
I think that's what some don't understand.

Schedule a meeting with Butch and ask him. Speculation is fine for message boards but he has used the same MO the past several years. This isn't new. If this was a sudden change to his tactics I could see the confusion but Butch is just Butching. We are doing something one letter different. :)

After reading comments from cj Lewis and Rodgers father it seems they are pretty straight up with these kids on the offers. They tell them where they stand on the list of players they want

Imagine that! You seeing this, CrunchyLeb, Bruin?

Yep I see it

I see the opposite

I see a staff that was very careful before taking the Lewis kids commitment. In fact said they needed to evaluate 2 kids beforehand. Sounded exactly like a process that was final when the kid committed. The process screams this isn't a conditional commitment on the recruits side anyway

Thanks for asking

It's never been to this extent though.

No, it also said they have expectations too. They are honest with them, not deceitful like you suggest.

Yes it said he wasn't consistent enough to get any offer.

A conditional commitment would have said "get more consistent to be signed"

A conditional commitment would have said "you are committed but we need to continue to evaluate other QBs"

Instead we waited until after evaluating 2 more QBs

Screams finality to me

I am not saying we were
Deceitful

Every position is different. QB you better take your time and get it right

Yep and it appears the staff was more than Upfront about what the kid needed to do to commit

I just saw nothing that would say what he needs to do to keep his seat on the bus like the op said

I like the CJ approach. Offer when you're ready to take the commitment as he's THE guy.

I was talking about two different players and two different situations and in both cases staff was upfront with the recruits. CJ was told about the other 2 higher than him that held up a commit and he was fine with it apparently. Chase was told he is 3rd I think his father said on the TE list so he knows where he stood also..

Spoke with a source close to the Top247 2018 QB that said Jones said this past weekend was the best of his life.

I asked if that also included the Tennessee visit. He said I'll just give you that Emory said he had a great weekend and enjoyed his time at Ohio State.

A decision is expected before the fall.

Yes I applaud the coaches for that honesty but invol popped in here suggesting that meant these kids know their commitment is conditional. Seems like the staff told them exactly where they were before they committed to me and nothing has been mentioned about afterward

I see your point. In the end we really don't know exactly what was said and how it was said and both sides may remember it differently....

Was it the other 2 were higher in the QB rodeo or just the staff had not seen them at camp yet?

Why has this offseason been brutal?

I guess because our coaches name was drug through the mud in the media for awhile there and in general offseasons are pretty lame. This is also the most excited I've been about a Tennessee team since I was a kid. So I've been feeling like its Christmas Eve for 6 months.

Was consistency a condition of his offer? What if said consistency diminishes?

You have in the past accused the coaches of unhandedness when it comes to withdrawing a commitment. AM I wrong guys?

I thought you meant recruiting wise more than anything which is why I asked you personally. Thanks!
