Arguing histories of programs is so pointless in this era. While I think history should matter, it's not hard to see that the vast majority of fans across the nation subscribe to the "what have you done for me now" mantra. Most of the time, if you bring up history people just give you sh*t and say you live in the past.
For example, I follow Clemson Tom on twitter, just for the lolz, and any time he talks about Tennessee he just mentions that they are a "cute little program with a passionate fanbase." This isn't just meant to be a callout (even though I think he is a total asshat) but he is the prime example of the large majority of CFB fans these days. It's all about how good have you been in the last couple of years. History doesn't matter any more, so trying to argue that with someone is like trying to win an argument with a brick wall. It's futile.
