Bud, I think you're not looking at it right. Only 2-3 4* guys added to our current class would be a disaster ranking wise. We may not even be top 20-25 with just 5-6 total 4* guys. We had 10 last year and finished 14th. Top 5 isn't remotely possible unless our commitment list gets shook up like crazy. I'm talking 10-15 guys out. The only reason we are top 10 now is because of the number of commits. The average ranking is closer to 25th on the class.
I said we needed one-two 5* recruits of ~5 scholarships we have left to possibly get into the top 5 ranking at the end.
What am I not looking at right? I said we can't go for anymore 3* recruits. Those aren't going to cut it. We already have enough & more!
How did you come up with the 28#? I'm curious as I haven't followed the roster spots and attrition much. Only saw where VQ gave the typical "around 25" when someone asked.
A few will get bumped to 4 stars, a few will be asked to look around and replaced by 4 stars, Trey Smith (5 star) will be a Vol. Gibbs and Chandler to UT also and there's your top 10 class. Win 11 games and we'll add a couple more ballers...top 5. Rinse and repeat for 2018.
Watched 2013 and 2014 season highlights and it really makes you realize how much we missed Pig and Croom in passing game last year. Those two were Dobbs Saftey blanket. Pig could do things with the ball after catch and Croom was Dobbs Saftey net for the chain moving throw. Croom at TE and the added juice from these freshman and a healthy Preston could really show a big difference in pass game this year
