'17 MS WR Jordan Murphy (UT signee)

If Murphy helps us get Akers he is more than worth the scholarship, doesn't hurt it looks like he has some serious skills!

PS I love getting these out of state guys that want to play for our VOLS!!! All you border nazis take note you can pull an amazing class without fretting over where they hail from!

4 star on rivals. If your that narrow sighted to not realize there are more than one persons opinion of a player then you need help. As long as a kid is a 4 star on at least one site it tells me something is there regardless of the site. Watch the tape and look at offers. These aren't kids with Austin peay offers

The bottom 4-5 commits are. Dooley was crucified for taking kids with similar talent on paper. Butch is applauded for it. There's zero denying that the offer lists of the bottom handful of commits are littered with Sun Belt/CUSA schools and a P5 offer or 2 here and there.

Please just lump all 3* into the same pot. LOL some people on here don't get the difference in the ability to spot talent between the two, but hey ignorance is bliss...

"Murphy had a very impressive camp performance after talking to several that saw the Mississippi wideout's performance. On a night when a number of receivers looked good, Murphy had a standout performance.

And it's worth mentioning that Murphy is very tight with running back Cam Akers and Akers told us Thursday night he's already heard from Murphy."

This Akers thing really may just happen

Butch hasn't really recruited and relied on this level of talent in his time here. A significant majority of our starters and contributors were sought after guys. My question is why are folks "satisfied" with accepting the class we have now (IF it wasn't fluid and ended this way on NSD) when we've seen the talent Butch is capable of landing? If this was the MO all along it would be understandable.

I know I (like most of us) have the orange shades on...but I just can't see how a high level RB wouldn't be drooling over the chance to come here...

A run heavy offense that loses its top two RBs after this year...both of whom will likely be high draft picks after putting up great numbers...it just seems like a no brainier and Akers would be the perfect RB for this class...hopefully it becomes a reality

It is EARLY, I will send you a kitty calendar so you can follow along. Whats the name of the "resort" you are staying at for an indefinite period?

Lots of them out there. More and more resorts are allocating suites, attached condos, and even large stand alone villas for purchase. Usually a great set up. You get to use all the resort amenities but it's "home". Or more often a 2nd home.

I posited a hypothetical and said IF it stayed this way. Please read. You're ok with the class because you assume it won't stay the same and the more marginal guys will be bumped, correct? Which is exactly the point; most wouldn't be satisfied IF this is how the class finished.

then what is the point of the post? We all know it won't stay this way. IF you hold your breath long enough you will die. Just throwing it out there. Your post contained a little caveat but was also just another way to knock the program and the recruiting strategy. Nice try though.

I think we ultimately end up with 7-8 4* guys and 2-3 5*s.

Class will be just outside the top 10 IMO

If we end up with eight 4*'s and three 5*'s, we'll be in the top 5, come National Signing Day.

Since Murphy has a bama offer I can go with it.

We can be sure his UT offer was committable. At least today it's valid. At bama, of course I can't be sure.

I have been curious about offers. How can it be validated its real? I'm not talking committable or not. I'm talking about who confirms say a bama offer if a kid claims one?

"Blessed I've received an offer from Alabama" on kids Twitter.

247 puts a checkmark next to bama on kids profile.

Then fans point to "offers" as a gauge on talent.

Bama coaches don't know the kid.

Questionable IMO.

There isn't any real way to validate offers. When a kid tells a recruiting service that he has an "offer" from a school, you have to assume it's a real, written offer. No school is going to verify what offers it's handed out.

Situations like Greg Mcleisse (sp?) are pretty rare, so I think a majority of kids only report written offers.

After watching highlights one thing is clear to me... He can go get the contested ball in the air. Love a WR that attacks the ball. If only Malone could pick that trait up he would be a force

Agree.

50 catches for 844 yards and 11 touchdowns in 13 games as a junior.

More less my point. Offer lists mean little in reality as they can't be validated.

Also I don't believe offers are in writing. Not until closer to NSD when "offer" sheets go out and alot of recruits usually post pics of those on Twitter.
