Tabor the Mouth -- At It Again

He was pretty aggressive last year. Two trick plays - the pass to the flat and subsequent pass back that Dobbs took to the house. Then the pitch to Kamara, then throwing to a tight-end.

Did Tennessee use those plays again last season or just for the Florida game?

When we were down or tied.

Once he got the lead he reverted back to his conservative ways.

I fear thats just who he is and he'll never learn you have to be aggressive all 60 minutes regardless of score.

I don't think it will just be Tennessee fans or the media that pick UT to beat Florida this year. The last couple years it has been a pickem spread. I think in 2014 TN was favored by 2.5-3 and last year it was FL by 2.5-3. This year I think it will be double digits possibly even 14+. We haven't had a defense to work with the past few years. This year is that is the difference.

In regards to his comments, I don't think that Tabor really pulled any punches. Its hard to think that you are going to lose to someone when you haven't lost to them in a decade. Its up to this team to change it. And then next year we will hear "We have lost to them one time in the last 12 years..." They have earned that right so let them talk.

Actually the last 2 years it was -1 TN. So even closer to a pickem.

Hopefully their entire offseason will be centered on lip exercises and twitter exposes!

Don't worry about your studies, or the playbook or the gym, just keep on tweeting!

Yeah, I said it, and he absolutely is (except the "few" good players part, but hey). This is between the HC's and the players / and ours are the only ones who can get UT the W.

As I recall, prior to last year's game, CBJ wouldn't even publicly address the matchup as a rivalry.

Anyone predicting this to be a blow-out or easy win, it's just baseless. This Team had better get prepared for 60 minutes (and if indeed it becomes running it down Tabor's throat early on, then keep it up for the entire entire 60).

We're 12 point favorites right now according to Vegas. We have the more talented team. And now thanks to Tabor endless bulletin board material.

If we don't blow this team out September 24, I'll question the manhood of these coaches and players. You're way better than Florida. You better prove it on the field. Not whimper to a lucky close victory.

Nope, but CBJ did put a stop to it unlike CJM.

I don't like that.

It shows weakness on the part of Butch Jones. Makes our players look like they're scared. If Tabor is talking I want our guys like Kongbo going back at him.

Jim McElwain owned him last year on the field and is now owning him in the off-season.

No. It shows that CBJ isn't a fool.

We also didn't play them every year until 1990.

True. But we've played them 30 times since 1976 and have never beaten them more than twice in a row during that time.

Conversely, we've punched back at Bama a handful of times, including 4 and 7 game win streaks during the same time period.

Its the truth. I'm pissed hearing this clown run his mouth and I ain't even a player or coach. And as so many here like to remind me, not a "real fan" either. I can't imagine how motivated I would be to destroy him on the field September 24 if I was a player or if I was Butch Jones and hearing this said about my team.

If they don't stomp the life outta these guys September 24 its gonna make me look at em differently. They have the talent to do it. And now the utmost motivation.

For all you old Vols, is this what it felt like when Alabama has an 11 win streak coming into 1982...?

Actually, not really. Bama in 1982 is a win quite like none other in Tennessee history. At the time it was a mind blowing upset. On October 16th, 1982 Tennessee was 2-2-1 with a loss at home to Duke while Alabama was 5-0 and coming off a 42-21 blowout win over #3 Penn State (eventual 1982 National Champion) the week before. Tennessee had also been blown out the previous two seasons by Alabama. Also, Alabama was coached by Bear Bryant who had achieved an almost mythical stature at that point. They are really only similar by the 11 game losing streak.

Back to Tabor: this is like the 4th thread on his trash talk. I am starting to think he reads VN (this is one of the most popular free fan sites in the SEC, afterall) and keeps running his mouth because he loves the attention he is getting from us. Maybe it's time for us to collectively put him on ignore? It has gotten old.

It's laughable that you could even begin to question the "manhood" of any of our players though.

Last I checked class doesn't win on the field. Aggression does.

And right now Jim McElwain shows me he has the agression to win. While Butch Jones looks like a wimp.

Lets hope McElwain never learns how to recruit. Because if he gets actual talent to work with, we'll definitely never beat Florida.

Who said anything about the field? You babbled about Jones looking weak because he refuses to get into the smack talk. That's not the field kid, no matter what your "experience" in football tells your sweet little self.

Definitely, but the gators were also 2-14 against the Vols until 1976 and 0-10 in the first ten meetings. They had zero SEC championships until 1991. They own us currently, though, no doubt.

If they let a less talented team clown them in the off-season and then clown them on the field September 24, what else is there to say?

If this was a team without talent I would simply say they aren't good enough to beat the bully. But we're good enough to beat this bully. In fact Vegas says we're 12 points better.

After all the smack said this off-season, I will question their manhood if they lose to these clowns....AGAIN.

Why? There's really nothing our players can say until they beat the gators.

And no, all it shows Butch has class.

Last 10 minutes against Florida last year says otherwise.

Butch Jones looks like the fool while McElwain looks like the genius.

What could our players possibly say that would get in the heads of the gator players? That's the point of trash talk, right? WE HAVE LOST TO THEM 11 YEARS IN A ROW! They'd just laugh at us and use it to their advantage.

It does look weak. It looks like he's scared. He's scared to actually take on the bully eventhough he's the bigger stronger guy now.

Its quite pathetic.

If McElwain beats him again this year it'll show me this guy lacks the toughness to coach big time football.
