I don't think someone transfers this early "who can't cut it." He just played one year, and he returned a kick in his first game against ND. He played sparingly, but most guys have to adjust and develop. To me, it appears that he just isn't happy.

Just read that Texas has a number of WR's ahead of him and that a coach, who he had a lifelong relationship with, left after the 2015 season. He was supposed to be one of their kick returners.

Also, they hired a new OC that is from the Briles coaching tree, but he seems to put an emphasis on the running game. Not all coaches can utilize a 5'8" guy. It would be interesting to see him in our offense, considering how Butch utilized Pig.

Would love to add him but is there even space? Also he did the same thing during his recruitment to gain followers. He knows UT fans on Twitter are vocal and he loves the attention.

I know at least 1 of the guys they got from Baylor was a big time receiver

Apparently was told the new OC prefers a different type of slot guy. Basically a run fast and beat them deep guy. Newsome is more of the typical shifty/quick slot

He was committed to UCLA before Texas. Not sure if there's still mutual interest, but he seems to like the Pac-12.

Even if the school releases him, he still has to sit a year, unless he can file a hardship transfer to be closer to home or a family member, or if he has graduated. If a school does not release him, he cannot even be on scholarship anywhere that year he is sitting out. If they do release him, he has to sit, but he can be on scholarship.
