<blue font> Yeah that conservative crap like throwing a pass back to the QB for a touchdown, we can't have it I tell you!!

With all due respect Remy, we ran nearly 1,000 offensive plays last season......if I also give you the 4th down jump pass vs Florida, can you think of anything else?

I said it from the start, may the criticism rain on me, but this guy can play and I said that he would be the next Peyton Manning if he gets enough playing time. The article is pretty accurate. He's not as fast on his feet as Dobbs (but then who is?), but QD can make plays with his feet, with or without blockers. He's cool under pressure but wants to make plays. If anything I'd say he has a hard time throwing the ball away as he wants to complete every pass. He's very accurate and can sling that ball standing in the pocket or on the run. I saw him play HS ball 20 miles away & Butch Jones & the offensive coordinator (JJ) on the sidelines evaluating him. I hope he gets more playing experience so he will be ready. With team 120, there should be plenty of opportunities for him to get more playing time. I have no doubt QD can lead the team should he need to. IF QD is the QB and teams crowd the line to stop the run they'll get burned because he can pass and put it where it needs to be; we just need guys that can catch it. This should be an exciting year for the VOLS. GBO!!!

No one is blowing this kid up to be the next Peyton Manning, ahh Butchna? We have a top 2 QB in the SEC and many believe a top 10 QB in the country, and we are worried about garbage time for a QB who shouldn't even play a meaningful snap this year? We had a top five all-time offense in like 4-5 categories last year and we are talking about the backup QB....This is crazy, Butch Jones isn't going to let QD run the whole offense atleast not for more than a drive or 2 tops.

You don't force extra reps to a back up qb that may never start. If the situation calls for it he should play. We shouldn't try to force packages or get him in extra early to prepare for next year when he may never even start. The best guy will win next year. The coaches won't try to decide who starts in 17 this year.

If we're up 3 TDs on Appy St in the 3rd quarter and Dobbs is still in the game, IMO Butch is making a mistake.

Like others have posted, I really hope Butch lets him do more than just hand-off in a game if he goes in because we are up 3 touchdowns. These are the perfect situations to get him early prep time for next year and to get him in a real-game situation which cannot be simulated in practice, even against lesser competition.

Let him air it out and throw to receivers. If he impresses enough you might have vital tape to show recruits and be like "Yeah, you know how you were concerned we don't or won't throw the ball. Look at this. This kid can sling it and he will sling it to you all the time. Come join."

JG will have to show more than he did in the all star game. He was pathetic. I think he is alot of hype. College is a whole new level over HS.

I like Dormady myself.

Oh, you mean the same all-star game where these kids have less than a week to form some chemistry with their new team and each player gets a few drives at most to show their talent?

Yeah, you're spot on. JG sucks. We should just drop him now. No idea what Butch was thinking signing this kid after such a pitiful performance.

I didn't care about JGs all star event performance in the same way I didn't care about Hunter Johnson's. Lots of reasons that one week environment doesn't go well for a talented guy.

I think it's QDs job because he has significant time in the system and has shown to be very capable in his limited opportunities.

I agree. That situation would call for the backup. I just don't feel we need to do something special to get him in early.

Oh I don't think we need to do anything special. Game in hand, put Dormady in. Padding Dobbs stats IMO should be the least of the staffs concerns. Build for the future.

Two girls in college this Fall. You heard I got remarried?

Yep yep. I know the last couple of years have been a real roller coaster. Hope you and your family are doing well. Also this tells me that if I know this much about people's personal lives I am on VN way too much lol.

Good read. I believe the job is QDs in 2017. The passing game should be much more dangerous.

Yup, and even if Tennessee gets Akers or Chandler or both, I think the offense will have a decidedly different look when it comes to the passing game. The offense will have a pass first QB, experience in the WR core and inexperience at RB. I don't think that Jones/Debord will change the offense completely, but we will see A LOT more passes called.

Why we need to develop as much chemistry early in the saeson, I would play Dobbs until you know you have seen everything you need to see out of the offense. The first couple of games is what gets us ready for the SEC Season, play the starters until you are ready for the SEC teams.

And Dobbs gets injured in meaningless minutes? You get fired from your imaginary coaching job. :)

What if he comes in and throws 2 picks, and then DObbs gets hurt. Now you have shown a weakness in our offense that no one could have seen on film. I am not in favor of the back up playing any meaningful time until you really need him, i know that he needs experience but i am afraid it is a double edge sword. I try not to show anything for teams to prep for.

If Butch Really trust Dormady then he will let him throw some meaningful reps but if he doens't then i would think that Butch doesn't believe he is ready. Quality of competition will be the tell-tell sign of what Butch allows him to do and against who.

I'm not trying to blast you personally but I'm not sure you realize how good a QB Dormady is. He did get on the field a few times last year and the kid is HUGE and tough as nails. His passes are more like missle launches. I would be more concerned about the receivers hands.

Still you will learn a lot about your offense in the first couple of weeks like getting all the skill players up to speed with the offense and you need to do that with the QB that will actually be throwing to them. A Dobbs injury is the only way i would see Dormady getting any kind of Meaningful reps this season.
