"We've been reporting that Tennessee has been looking for a running back replacement for Joe Young in the class of 2016 and we can confirm that Oklahoma running back Jeremy Lewis (6-1, 190) has been added to the roster and enrolled in school this month and will practice in August when fall camp opens.

Lewis became a late qualifier as academics limited his options on signing day but he ran for over 3,000 yards his senior season and signed with Trinity Valley Community College in February.

This doesn't change the outlook at the 2017 running back board as Cam Akers and Ty Chandler remain the Vols' biggest priorities in a year where they must sign ready to play running backs.

But, Lewis should add some depth and another option once Jalen Hurd and Alvin Kamara leave after this season in all likelihood. "

hes talented. It was a grades issue, not talent. He was being recruited by Nebraska, BYU, Louisville, Mizzou and OU. This late addition looks better than the Joe Young one last yr in my opinion. Big kid, too.

Hope you are correct but can't get excited about a 1800 recruit regardless of the details

but what youre not understanding is he was a 1800 recruit bc he was not a qualifier until basically just now. Not because hes a 1800 talent. He was set to go to Nebraska originally more than likely.

You might was well be talking to the wall when making your arguments....:p

I know grades effect rankings somewhat but I have seen plenty of kids with grade issues ranked plenty high. If this kid was was in the top 1000 I could buy what you are saying but 1800 doesn't fit

Just curious has there ever been a recruit you didn't think we should have taken?

If there hasn't you are nothing but a yes man homer

you even have the VQ mods telling you he was going to a power 5 school and prob a major program like Nebraska. This take is better than the Young take on paper. I mean we needed a body and we got a big kid with some potential. A talented, solid athlete to work with. Thats all. They'll still be after Chandler and others just as hard so whats the problem?

Of course there have been. But it wasn't based on a number like you.... It was based on the whole package.

Having said that, I'm no expert and our staff is...

The only problem is comparing what we would have gotten with that spot. Jmo but we could have gotten a better player In this 2017 class

Nor am I. Hopefully this works out. I damn sure will cheer on this kid and appluad him got getting his grades in order

I suppose if we look at history a possibility is he gets a scholarship in 2016 then Butch takes it away for 2017 as the kid plugged a hole for the one season and served his purpose.

You just don't get it do you? The coaching staff determined we needed another RB now, not 2017 but now. They know the reason we needed one now, do you?
