I'm rewatching the GA game from last year and I have to say, as much grief as Dobbs has taken for his passing ability, our receivers/TE dropped a ton of balls in the first half of that game. Dobbs was throwing excellent that day and finished with over 300 yards, but it could have been better if not for the drops. Hopefully our receivers have improved their hands for this season

I've noticed this as well. When they continuously drop catchable balls they are not helping Dobbs' esteem out there on the field. Not everything about the passing game is Dobbs like you said. A lot falls on the WRs as well.

I've not tuned in on the satellite camp talk yet but will now. Yeah, it's strange we aren't going to a camp in our back yard but it is the middle of July. Camp is two- three weeks away. It's time to focus on team 120 and go win a championship. Not travel around the country "recruiting" on the same field as 100 other coaches. Get the recruits on your campus.

Preston Williams dropped a lot of balls last year. As talented as he is that shouldn't be happening. Hopefully he corrects that bc I think he can be dominant if he lives up to his potential

Everyone did. Heck even Wolf did. They need to seriously do a ton of catching drills this fall camp.

I keep trying to make myself turn it but it looks so good right now at 20-7. Butch just called timeout to let Florida go for it on fourth down

No. Butch called a timeout to make sure his team was prepared for the fake punt that was likely forthcoming. Florida then made the decision to go for it when it was clear the fake was expected.

Would it have been less painful he hadn't called timeout and the fake had succeeded?

A team that needs a TO called to be ready to defend a fake punt is an unprepared team

I wouldn't be surprised if Butch announced a UT camp in the Nashville area right after.

Naw already had two camps in area and apparently that is part of reason we aren't going to this one. Seen everyone we needed to see. My only issue is allowing a door open for other competition to brown nose a key connection.

I wonder if there is some animosity regarding what seems to the public eye to be some UGA pushing like with Wray and Stevens away from us. De1 has never been shy on this board to bash Mahoney, Z and criticize some Martinez techniques

Idea that "if we CBJ doesn't win this year then he never will" is so dumb. Absolutes like that are how emotional teenage girls react. We could not win big this year but then win big in the future. Completely legit possibility. There are way too many miniscual butterfly effect events that must go right to win it all. We graduate some great players (not generational, lmao) but we have great talent stockpiled. And the players in waiting are players that were all recruited according to the recruiting profile CBJ and the Bobs put together.

I don't think we've got to win it all this year. Now the SEC East? Absolutely. Otherwise recruiting will continue to slide in the wrong direction. If the staff can't win the East this year with this roster, they won't do it with less talent going forward. IMO it's now or never.

The defense should stay on the field and always be prepared to prevent a first down. But I would sure rather force the other team to call a timeout or their ST try to get the first down rather than their offense come back out. And calling a timeout gives them extra time to draw up a play. It was a Dooley type call from Jones, and a game I hope he learned a lot from moving forward.

In 97 the Vols had the sure fire senior Heisman winner...a loaded, talented veteran team and years of just missing...theirs to lose and they lost. Next year the barely played backup led the preseason 17th ranked team to the promised land. Coincidentally the same year a future self-declared football expert became "aware" of the program. Absolute statements make one look like an absolute idiot. :yess:

If kids are ignorant enough to not realize we could of easily had draft picks this last draft, and that we have draft picks for the foreseeable future, then that's pretty sad. Jmo.

D4H is generally right here (you have no idea how difficult that was for me to type)....top prospects look at the track records of coaches/staffs to put players in the league.

That being said, I also agree with you UTK, Butch and the staff are surely pitching recruits on the 3 draft picks we could've had this year and the 8-9 that I think we're gonna have next year. Also, this was the first year he had recruits from his first class at Tennessee even eligible. Additionally, he can point to a handful of pretty good NFL players he put into the league from his days at Central Michigan and Cincy. Other teams are surely negative recruiting against Butch about not having a player drafted the last 2 seasons, but he has plenty of ammunition to fire back and counter with IMO.

Yeah I really think if the fact that we didn't have anybody drafted the last couple of years is keeping you from coming to Tennessee, then you never really had any interest in going to TN in the first place. Doesn't take a lot of thought to understand that things have been changing around here the last few years and that fun tidbit opposing coaches like to use won't stand a year from now.
