You really think all these kids are just going to flip?

Lot of guys aren't committed yet. And I'm sure there are a lot of guys that we haven't even talked about that could come late like Byrd last year. Lot of time left.we could pick up a lot of momentum also just after October depending on how we go through that stretch

It's just not impressive enough for recruits IMO. No one really cares that we smoked Kentucky and Vandy and Northwestern and finally pulled ourselves out of the SEC gutter. The narrative that UT blows games, doesn't get players drafted, and doesn't have early playing time available is a strong deterrent for class of 17 kids.

I don't buy that a couple of blown games is preventing kids from coming here at all. It's rare that a recruit places any importance on the outcome of individual games. That's why it always kills me when I see people saying that when we play a team that we are going head to head for a recruit on, it will be a determining factor.

Your other two deterrents are dead on, and much more influential IMO.

Things happen after the new year. Kongbo, Byrd, Callaway, Tatum, and Warrior all committed after the bowl game. We don't need them all to flip. Just need a great year to sway a few who are uncommitted and may get a couple who have previously committed.

It's not individual games. It's a trend. Don't discount the damage that was done during the 4-week span of OU, WCU, UF, and Arkansas. Butch was the butt of every joke in CFB at that time.

I agree that lack of NFL success and lack of playing time are bigger factors, but kids also want to go to schools where they think they will win and play for coaches who know how to win the big games.

He deserved more than to make it a springboard for gun control. No offense to his mother but the gun law passed allows professors to carry if they have a permit. That is in response to campus shootings. I'm sure the boys that did the drive by filled out their federal background checks and went to gun safety courses......end rant

His mom didn't write that part of the speech ...

5 or so 4* commitments should keep us around 15thish come NSD.

Man it's getting really dusty...yeah that's it....dusty in here. I'm actually finding myself getting a little emotional :eek:lol:

No one thought that though at the time. We were supposed to have tons of momentum after winning 6 in a row, destroying a top 15 team in a bowl, and being preseason top 10. Something STILL doesn't add up for me.

Some of you don't get it.

Kids want to get to the NFL. The 0 draft picks in 2 years is killing us.

Plus the we're close to being really good isn't a good argument when other teams are saying we're better and we can get you to the NFL.

apples to oranges. What I am saying is all coaches will play players that are cleared of all charges with no pending charges remaining. Yes Butch is great at immediately suspended players with pending issues. My point is if we had a future NFL LT on our team that had Cam Robinson situation and your opening game was against USC Trojans then you can't really think Butch or any coach in America wouldn't start him for game 1 with no more pending charges. Once charges are gone any coach is going to play the star. We as fans would also be relieved to have our future NFL player playing as well.

Treyvon Paulk?
