I don't get the A&M hype. They'll lose to UCLA, then limp out of Arkansas with another loss. They'll head into the game vs Tennessee scared/tight--we'll whip'em, and then they get two weeks to think about the smack down that's coming from St. Nick. After that, there are 4 losses and Sumlin's fired. Then they try to hire Jones.

Right. It. Down. ;)

They are the 3rd most talented team we play, it's on the road, and right after UF and UGA. It should be a tough game.

They are due for an eye opening win, every year. The are dangerous, even if they are inconsistent

I haven't decided how I feel on this one.
The Arkansas game last year was one where we had the edge on paper but I didn't like the match-up.

When knight is used properly, he's a threat. KS said they understood this and planned to use him in such a fashion.

While the talent level (and atmosphere) overall may not be the same, we'll get a little taste of the team's readiness for a dual threat QB in the ASU and VT games.

Who's the 1?

No idea, just think it is realistic we drop 1 of the 4 in a row and losing 1 in today's SEC doesn't matter at all.

We would be in Atlanta playing for a Playoff birth no matter who the L is to, because IMO neither UGA or UF is going any better than 6-2 in the SEC this year.

Hell even if we go 11-1 and somehow miss out on Atlanta we'd have a shot at the playoff (about a 5% chance of us not making it to ATL with a 7-1 SEC record IMO this year).

A&M is one of the games that scares me the most. It's gonna be a tough environment regardless. Trevor Knight looks like the clear starter. They have some talent on both sides of the ball. I could see them being sneaky in the West. I could also see them losing 5 or 6 games. Who knows.

On paper I like our chances. But College Station historically is a hard place to win.

I hope we just learn to stomp out teams early and often this year. How fun would that be? I honestly can't even picture it. But this season is a legitimate chance to maybe see a Tennessee team like that.

It's far from a sure thing though. We're likely going to have to win plenty of close games this year along the way. Just need to win. That's all that matters.

I thought the same thing, then I went and looked at their last few seasons.

They've dropped more than a few games at home recently (and La-Monroe took them to the wire, IIRC). If they come into that game with 2 or more losses (which is possible if Auburn regains a pulse and/or Arkansas has anything shaking), then it might not be all that wild given the way Sumlin is on shaky ground.

We can't go undefeated with that 4 game stretch and no bye. Just not going to happen. Unrealistic to think we will.

Wrong. The team is strong enough, if healthy. TN vs. Oregon, 2012-13... Those were unrealistic games.

Bama has played through a historically strong SEC West for the past few years, and wins championships. This Tennessee team can do it. They may not, but I'm not casting doubt

I won't give any consideration to the notion "we will drop one of those four". 18 years ago I said the same thing, we'd never get through October undefeated (at Auburn,at UGA, Bama at home and at South Carolina), especially after Jamal Lewis went down for the season.

I won't anticipate some random hypothetical loss. Let's play!

Best-case scenario: Tennessee shoulders expectations, wins SEC

Brad Crawford's take on our season. I like the little jab at Florida:

Injuries and late-game miscues ravaged Tennessee’s shot at the East last season, but only one of those elements is in the Vols’ control in 2016. The schedule's not exactly favorable compared to Florida's cakewalk, but if Bob Shoop’s defense plays as well as advertised and Joshua Dobbs shows improvement from a passing standpoint, the Vols are deserving of their frontrunner crown in the division.

Perfect season imo is, 12-0 with an embarrassingly lopsided defeat of Florida, beat LSU in Atlanta, beat Michigan then Clemson in playoffs. This is mine so hands off.

We can easily win the first 3 games since we're more talented than Florida, Georgia, and A&M.

If that happens, we'll be playing with house money against Alabama. Our players will know we basically have our ticket punched to Atlanta. That'll allow them to play real loose against Alabama because they'll have nothing to lose. Alabama on the other hand will be coming off a physical game at Arkansas and knowing they have a game at Baton Rogue coming up might play tight that game knowing it's a must win for them but not Tennessee.

4-0 is very doable. But it requires handling our business in the first 3. Beat those first 3 opponents and I like our chances to go 4-0.

Yeah its really gonna be hard to go 4-0 if we lose one of the first three....

UF's OOC schedule is:

UMass
NTexas
Presbyterian Blue Hose
FSU

Their SECW opponents are:

LSU
Arkansas

I think they will lose to FSU, LSU and they have a chance to lose to Arky.

So yes, cake walk compared to other SEC teams. Normal for an ACC schedule.

Never having to go to Georgia is of course nice.

Then don't like leaving Florida (nothing new) but they do have to play LSU.

They also don't have a potentially disastrous stretch in the season (month of October) like we do. Between playing UT and LSU, they play Vandy. Then, they play Mizzou. After Mizzou and prior to the UGA game, they have their bye week. They finish their SEC schedule with Arkansas and USCe.

Soft.

Compared to other SEC schedules, it's pretty darn soft.

Looks pretty similar to ours to me. We've got Bama at home, they've got LSU at home. We go to A&M, they go to Arkansas. They have the harder OOC game against FSU compared to our VT and we both have 3 OOC cupcakes although our 3 may look a little tougher but not much. The order of their games looks a little more favorable also, but still a pretty similar schedule to me.

UF will prob find it very difficult to score against Mizzou. But i just dont think Mizzou has enough on offense either. Arkansas is very tricky for Florida too.

Yes their sequencing is definitely fortunate. Our first 7 weeks may be the toughest in the nation.
