It's hilarious...he had equal stats to Trent Thompson but yet was snubbed from any All Freshman team. Also how many games did Khalil start compared to Thompson? They also said Tuttle didn't live up to expectations either....comical....he was the best freshman DT in the SEC last year before he was hurt.

Frankly, I expected better from McElroy. He clearly just wanted to be a contrarion today because he was almost totally full of ****.

Butch is the master at talking a lot and saying nothing. Unfortunately, Dobbs is following that model. I wanted to here something different, some confidence, something, but its the same stuff we heard last year, in the spring, and I'm sure we'll hear every press conference in the fall.

True, but coaches and players stand to gain nothing by saying anything out of the ordinary or by going off-script when speaking to the media.

True, but would've loved to have heard something, anything about Atlanta, national championship goals, how the passing game is looking, revenge on the mind, anything. The used car salesman even said yesterday he anticipated playing Saban in Atlanta again this year.

Butch just isn't the type of coach to ever say that stuff in front of the media. But I guarantee he talks about it with the team.

I did find interesting that he specifically mentioned the Auburn game in 2013 as an example of when it was clear that the Vols lacked speed. Great comparison between the special teams/coverage then and now. Team speed has been upgraded by a quantum leap.

He hardly ever does with the media though. Maybe you left the "in" off tense?

Yeah, he's always intense. But this is the most uptight I've ever seen him with the media. I'm sure the pressure is getting to him... and like all of us, he's probably sick of the media's negative treatment of the lawsuit. But the other coaches were much looser. Butch didn't make small talk or joke around-- I'm not totally sure he smiled.

So... apparently, use of the word "tense" is frowned upon in this establishment. GTK.

He's about 2.5 months away from a game that could make or break his career. I'd be tense as well.

I think Hugh Freeze is going to have that same look soon thanks to the NCAA

I thought CBJ looked really tense today. He didn't seem at all comfortable-- barely cracked a smile.

Yeah he's always pretty tense in front of national media like this. I thought he was much more tense last year though. He was in control this time and stayed on message and controlled his own tone. I thought he represented us really well.

They win like we want and you'll give a crap? :hmm:

I just don't think Butch does great going off script in front of media types. He realizes that and tries to stay the course. He tried to tell some joke about the bus having no AC and it was almost like he decided to abandon the joke halfway through and move ahead quickly.

I'm okay with how he operates. He is respectful and glows when talking about his players. He's a players coach first and foremost and I think we're lucky to have him.
