Received votes in the final AP(7) and coaches(9) polls last year. This is a team that most think will breeze through the sunbelt (as they should, it's the sunbelt), and be a 1 or 2 loss team at the end of this year. The only other tough game for them this season is Miami(Mark Richt's first season) which they play at home. I'm sure it's exciting for them to be able to host a name brand team like Miami.
I do think we end up beating them by 3 scores or more but I think they will put up a fight. I see them getting a freebie or two in the first half while we work out the kinks of the bob shoop defense. I'd say we outmatch them at every position but I'd like to know everyone's opinion of their team this year or what will happen in this matchup?

What will happen? We're gonna hit them so hard they'll find orange streaks in their underwear after the game.

I can't believe Miami is going to play in Boone. I would be embarrassed if we did that.

Missy St does things like this and I don't understand why. I can't find the incentive. Since 2008 they've played at LA Tech (which they're doing again in 2017), MTSU, UAB, Troy, South Alabama, and Southern Miss. This yr they play at UMass (granted they play at Gillette but still) and BYU.

I'm with you...I'd be completely embarrassed if we played road games like that.

Edit: oh and UT wins 41-14.

I would say it might be like BG last year, they hang with us for a bit but then we blow the scoreboard up, but with this defense idk how much theyll be able to get done on offense

I get it but you may want to rethink MTSU on your list. Why? They have a larger student body count than does UTK these days, reality bites, don't hate.

Bottom line is that Appy state is a good team, but they are an entire level below TN. They just don't have any blue chip talent on that team. Tennessee is loaded with it, therefore they will win by at least 3 or 4 scores.

I agree. This game could be very similar to Bowling Green. Appy State QB Taylor Lamb threw for 2,387 yards, ran for 436, and scored 31 TDs last year. Their RB, Marcus Cox, ran for 1,423 yards and 9 scores. They return 18 starters from an 11-2 season. I look for UT to take care of business, but with it being the first game, and a Thursday night game, it could be closer than people think.

They won't sniff 20 points. UT will absolutely destroy them.
Everyone is about to find out just how bad of a DC Jancek really was.

The Lamb boy from calhoun georgia is an athlete. BUT he has not been hit by the likes of Barnett, Vereen, Phillips, Mckenzie, Kirkland, Sapp, Taylor, well I could go on for ever. Even Jumper could get in a garbage time hit.

I hope they have a fantastic season. It would be awesome to see them win every game, except when they play us. It would only make us look better at the end of the season.

How big's that stadium again? Somehow UTK has more money than MTSU...mebbe that's the answer to the riddle. :)

Lol no way.....
Dobbs 150-200 passing
Maybe 100 yard for each back but I'm betting we see a lot of Kelly.
Not to mention our defense will make some big plays that will diminish our offensive numbers.
