Exactly right. The $250k was a mere afterthought. We all know it was that deep bond of trust between Dabo and Tee that led to the commitment. If only Butch had that level of integrity. I guess we can still dream, right?

I like the policy. It can work.

I've been a long time advocate of funding recruiting to get the guys Ya want. The NCAA has just recently made it a lot easier.

This thread is just getting stupid. No money changed hands, and this all seems like a big pile of butt hurt. Guarantee nothing comes of this rumor.

OV said he was told the handler is telling lies about UT. Is that about UT offering money, or something else? It would probably come as more of a surprise that we aren't offering cash, than if we are. Just sayin.

Maybe the lies are something else.

I was wondering what the "lies" were as well. That Butch would be fired because of the lawsuit perhaps or that we would be in trouble with NCAA? This has been by far the dirtiest year in recruiting that I have ever followed.

I find it interesting that rumors like the one being presented here. always come up after Tennessee is jilted by someone we supposedly led for. Of course, to my knowledge, there has not been any proof of any of the claims in previous situations and I suspect that there will not be in the Higgins deal either.

Makes me wonder who was the person responsible for telling Higgins through his twitter account that he was going to bust out all the windows I Higgins car, after his commitment was announced.

The only rumor I am familiar with comes from a Scout site person who relates that one of the reasons that Trevor Lawrence has cooled some on Tennessee is that he is being told that Butch is on the hot seat here. This one I can believe, because if we do not win the SEC East this year, there will be calls for Jones to be fired. Just imgine if we win 10 games, but do not win the east and people will want Butch Jones fired.

If he's dumb enough to believe that fans calling for Butch to be fired for not winning the east will cause him to be actually be fired than we don't need him anyway.

Agree... give me a break. Where there's smoke, there's usually fire and we've all been wondering why things just don't add up as to how positive the program is moving, yet all of a sudden instate recruits are looking elsewhere, and just about all are looking at the same program who isn't even in our conference?? Something is definitely amiss at the Circle K....

Butch would have to miss bowl for that to even be a thought for Dave Hart. People get so wrapped into their own expectations and think an AD thinks same way.
