Cautiously optimistic about the recent direction this thread is trending in...

I've noticed very few replies to Crunchy Leb. I think others are finally getting it. Need the level headed folks of this forum and thread to take back over and bring balance back to the Force.

"It’s early, but UT feels good about incoming class. One official said it might be Butch Jones' most close-knit in 10 years as head coach. Tyler Byrd has impressed, displaying skills as WR and DB. One person said he could become first-round draft pick. Quickest of signees. Byrd could be the steal of the class along with Brandon Johnson, a polished WR and long ball threat. WR Marquez Callaway (who has best hands on team) and WR Latrell Williams have great speed and are long-ball threats who can stretch field. S Nigel Warrior has elite ability and great instincts. MLB Daniel Bituli will play special teams and could be backup to Darrin Kirkland Jr. UT loves QB Jarrett Guarantano, who has good, accurate arm and mobility. `He may be a special player,’ one source said. OT Marcus Tatum has gained about 15 to 20 pounds and is up to about 275. Juco DE Jonathan Kongbo has gained up to about 280." - Hyams

Breaking: Dabo hires Butch Jones as recruiting coordinator, Jones declines to comment.

Agreed. There's just no way that recruiting right now should be overshadowing the possible season team 120 is on the brink of. We gotta lock it up in here and enjoy this season, Butch will handle recruiting, I think he's proven that much IMO.

I don't care what y'all say. Canadians are great people and their football is good (to watch) in my book. Rules and all. 3rd down for what?

I'm pretty sure Dobbs, Weisman, and Vickers were the only additions.

Held onto Sutton though.

Holding onto guys though can be harder than recruiting your own. Players want to play for someone they have had a relationship with and not many of those probably knew Butch. I will give Butch credit for them just like giving Dooley credit for his first class.

A theory of why so many people are down on this forum lately:

"Things are going pretty good" is boring to talk about. Everybody here is a sunshine pumper or a negavol. Any of you morans who try to be reasonable are boring and probably quickly forgotten by everyone else.

We know Butch isn't a terrible coach. So those people still saying the sky is falling seem ridiculous. You can't make a cogent argument that this program isn't in the best shape it has been in since at least 2007. Nobody has been arrested in a while, no star players leaving, APR turned around, roster is rebuilt... Things ain't all bad for sure.

We also have seen Dooley piss away a loaded offense in 2012, Fulmer squander a vicious defense in 2005, and Butch blew big leads in big games last season. And truly this recruiting cycle has not lived up to fan expectations on the front end. These players may turn out to be great but we're ******n Americans and we don't want to wait 3 years for our instant gratification. So most of us really don't buy into the sunshine pumper "we're going undefeated" camp either.

So things are going pretty good. And that's boring. So we're left with a bunch of intentionally obnoxious trolls and very few of the unintentionally hilarious trolls that used to make this place amusing.

It's sad right now, but it will get better when we start playing football in September.

North was all Jay Graham. He would have been at UT regardless.

Don't think that's definite. UNC seemed to have it locked for him. Momentum changed pretty late in the process. In any case he DEFINITELY wasn't committed when Dooley was the coach...so he counts as an "addition". :)

Yeah, I think he was thinking of Da'Rick being handed to Dooley from Kiffin.

The guy committed with a tat.... He was all but a lock

"All but". :). Point is, when you don't HAVE something and then you do? It's an ADDITION. He wasn't a commit under Dooley. He was after Butch was hired...do I need to keep typing all this? :dunno:

Has anyone heard of rankbyoffers.com? Has Gray higher than Higgins, and Kivon Bennett higher than both of them. Kivon is the #4 DL, Hansgard is the #2 DL, and Crosby #12. Also has our class as the #6 class. Interesting.

Boys and girls we all argue and sometimes act down about this recruiting thing but good grief what's wrong with this country?

Prayers for Dallas now!

From Vq, "also looking good early on the defensive side is Daniel Bituli. He's big, can run and is showing some early flashes. As one person told us this week, don't be surprised if he does not have a Cortez McDowell type impact on special teams this fall."

From Vq, " From a leadership standpoint, the coaching staff remains pleased with what they have seen on and off the field. Dobbs has focused not only on improving his game, but also of his leadership and what he demands of his teammates."

Interesting. I didn't follow him as closely. Kirkland's understudy?
