What gets me about the whole Lady Vols fiasco is that they wanted to be seen as equals to the Men's teams....okay no problem...so they come up with whole "One" Tennessee thing and call all teams the same thing..."Tennessee Volunteers". No...that's not good enough though...they get butthurt though because of the name change. It's ridiculous.

Eh, it doesn't bother me. There's tradition behind that name. If they want to keep it, no problem. Can still be seen equally with men's teams while keeping a marketable brand.

Barnett, Sutton, Hurd, JRM will be the draft order, IMO. Barnett and Sutton in the 1st round, Hurd early 2nd, JRM late 2/early 3.

Same site also had Bray #1 at one point.

Just saying that one service had him as a first rounder. There it is. Not impossible that he goes that early especially considering his numbers rival anybody's. He was better than Ragland last year. Only thing holding him back is size.

The thing that gets me about the uproar over it was that I had heard a few of the women's sports coaches wanted to quietly move away from the Lady Vols brand in their sports.

Right or wrong, its viewed as antiquated by a lot of people outside the fanbase.

I don't know why they didn't just let them quietly do that.

I agree that everything Hart has done hasn't been bad- he has done some good things, but he hasn't exactly been a PR dream either. The coaching search was mishandled at times, thankfully ending with Butch but it was quite a fiasco before that. Getting Nike was great but the Lady Vols fiasco was poorly mishandled. Tyndall was a great coach but that whole mess made Hart look foolish. And it has been said many times that he and Cheek dug in their heels to fight this lawsuit instead of settling long before and in doing so, it wouldn't have been the media storm that it was. Maybe that wouldn't have been the right decision, who knows but again, because of it we were a media story for weeks and not in a good way. And it has obviously not helped recruiting this year.

I've been on the fence about him, like him at times and despise him at times but it just feels like with Cheek out the door, it's a great time to look at other options- i.e Blackburn.

From the start, Hart was told his biggest priority was to get football back on track. The coaching search happened the way it did, but it ended in hiring Butch, who now has us back in the top 10 discussion. Hart should get credit for that.

Chatter on Twitter is Baylor QB Jarrett Stidham is likely transferring

Must be more crap coming down. Hamilton got razzed for reaching for Dooley instead of riding out an interim year with Kippy Brown. Dooley at least salvaged a good recruiting class and kept the core of players...before the descent to HELL. :thud: Of course that was all without the type of scandal that ousted Briles ringing in the background. Might not be a right solution for those guys ATM, but no clear vision at the top spot definitely isn't. Bet (if this has legs) Stidham's first glance is thrown Oregon's way.

Just out of curiosity... is anybody actually enjoying the rampant bickering, trolling and pointless negativity on the forum these days?

I read in both forums (post less here because I don't have recruiting info)
But it's been harder to tell the difference in the two lately.
Some days this one has even been worse.
Granted, I think that's just from the abundance of posts by one individual but still gives the same result.

I don't mind different viewpoints and rarely put someone on ignore, but it may be time. Especially when one feels that they have to post the same viewpoint multiple times.

Too much doom and gloom when the most exciting season we've had in a long time starts practicing in a month.

Same I don't get the hate with Hart.

I do. I don't like Hart personally, and won't be sad when he's gone. He was a walking PR nightmare, wanted to keep Dooley until he was forced to make a move after the 2012 Vandy game, and honestly kind of bungled a couple of coaching searches (sure looked like he backed into hiring Butch.

All that said, he's probably exactly what we needed as an AD with all of the cracks in the ship. So while I think he's accomplished a lot, and steered us out of crisis very well, I totally get the hate.

It seems like I read somewhere that Hart wanted to fire Dooley after the 2011 Kentucky game and was talked out of it.

You have it backwards...Dooley tried to breach his contract or something by talking to UNC, I think. It was something along those lines. He basically knew he was in over his head and wanted out, but wanted his multi-million dollar buyout too. Hart said negative.

Yeah, it's been a new vibe lately. Differing viewpoints and rational debate is cool, but man. We need football.
