Don't know how he could KNOW that...and I disagree. The plaintiffs went into this looking to sock the university. Bet it would've taken 8 million + and legal fees before their case started to sink.

I agree. It works out to around $310K each before the lawyers 30%-40% cut. While that sounds large, it's not in the overall scheme of things. There was NO WAY this was settling early on at half that about. Not worth it for the lawyers....

$2.48M is a win for UT

Ready to appreciate Dobbs final year too. He may have lacked a bit as a passer so far, but he has been incredible at his strengths, and Peyton like in his representation of the University.

Special player

Our defense is going to absolutely lock teams down. Top 5 defense is on the way.

Show me where you want to attack, as an opposing offense, and I'll show you the back hand of a player in Orange.

The only hiccups our defense is going to have is indigestion after inhaling opposing offenses

Top teams almost always have a Heisman candidate.

Between Dobbs, Hurd and Barnett, who do you think has the highest potential?

I'm thinking Dobbs, at the moment. Hurd will get rest in the 4th quarters, and Dobbs and Kamara will keep total yards from ballooning too high.

Media loves Dobbs. With the improved OL, and P-Willy emerging as a monster target, he will have the all around game and personality to garner attention as the Vols have a monster run through the season.

A regular season win over Bama, will cause the nation to take notice, and plenty of stat padding games after that. He just needs to take care of the ball

Not really.

These kids don't care about nuance. 0 draft picks in 2 years is bad. Marquez going from top recruit to undrafted doesn't help either.

We had 2 or 3 come back that would have been drafted. Thats not nuance. Thats fact. Those same guys talk to recruits to tell them this fact. And that they preferred to stay at UT because they "love it here"

Youre like a child pulling the "not really" crap. That point is incredibly weak and you know it.

If Hurd was alone in the backfield, I'd say he had the most potential but Kamara will, rightfully so I might add, get plenty of touches and take away from Hurd's numbers.

QB's are always the media darlings when it comes to Heisman voters. Add in the fact that Dobbs is an Aeronautical Engineering student (or whatever it is) and you get the feel good story to couple with the potential for some incredible stats. Hopefully Dobbs has improved on his accuracy issues. If he has, he has a legit shot.

"I have improved upon Dobbs accuracy issues." - P-Willy

Just remember after my man goes wild... I'm piloting the P-Willy fan train

They just said on the radio that there were 28 plaintiffs. I don't know if that is accurate but that would mean each plaintiff gets 60,000 approximately after attorney fees

EDIT. Pretty sure it's just 8 plaintiffs

They are having a field day with this settlement on sports talk radio in Atlanta. Dawg fans being fairly sanctimonious when their program hands out condoms to visiting rappers and has had at least as many of these issues as ours. Wouldn't be surprised if they were named in a suit in the coming years.

I managed to listen to about 10 minutes of a certain Knoxville morning show. The usual suspects prattled on about how this shows UT did something wrong, but I guess we'll never know what, etc. etc. They, like most media members, had zero clue what the actual heart of the suit was.

Thankfully, after this short holiday week, this story will fade away.

As for other fanbases lobbing stones at UT, just wait. Your time is coming. The lawyers see $$$ so almost everyone will have to fight one of these.

Now that this thing is settled it will be ancient history within a week. The media will turn it's eyes to the next big thing that breaks.

I wouldent worry about what anyone is saying right now. Other schools are just pissed they lost the stick they have been beating us with.

Re: Brice

Was he saying one thing at under Hubbs at VQ, and something different once he moved to 247?

I honestly don't know, but that might have something to do with the different stories.

Yes

Vq:the lawsuit is playing a very minimal role if any in recruiting

247: the black cloud of the lawsuit is over. It was a major negative

We should 100% believe media reports for what reason?

Most of them are tools for others. Journalism as it was meant to be is a dinosaur.

We shouldn't I agree but when they report exactly the opposite things in a matter of weeks it's hilarious to see

So does the settlement expedite Alexis Johnson's return to the team?

Now we just need a high profile recruit (Chandler, Foster, etc) to pull the trigger and get this big orange ball back to rolling.

We need about 4 of them, today. Chandler, Smith, Hansard, and Pitts. Ross on August 6th. Get some good vibes going.

The results spoke for itself. Time to put it behind us, and live up to the hype.

It played a role without a doubt. How big is the question.

I think it played only a portion of the problem but even posting that just 24hours was scoffed at here. Betting today that changes with the thinking

I hope that the lawyers get all the money & the plaintiffs end up with nothing.

I've thought the lawsuit has played a part in recruiting and thought opposing coaches were pointing to Butchs future here. Remember when some in national media questioned if Butchs job was secure especially after the Bowles news hit? I don't think it's so much of the accusations in the lawsuit itself or recruits and their families thinking UT is a bunch of thugs, it was more who is going to be my coach moving forward type questions. Thank goodness that black cloud has moved on.

I'll not be changing my tune on the lawsuit. It does not and did not weigh heavily on recruit's minds, when making their decision. It was just one in a multitude of factors that influence recruit's minds.

Winning/not winning. Facilities. Nike/Under Armor/Adidas. Coaches. Path to the pros. Fanbase, etc.
These are more important to recruits and always have been.

While I agree that it did loom over the program like a dark cloud, I've never agreed that it was anything more than a talking point for opposing coaches.
