Will you settle for a box of cheezits?

There is so much about all this Title9 gobeldygook I find creepy(read scary) but I will save that discussion for my friends tonight at the Hookah bar.

mmmmm, Cheezits.

So does this mean we are safe now from any further sanctions from the NCAA? That would be awful to settle the lawsuit for $2.48 million & then have additional penalties or sanctions placed on us as a football program or any other athletics.

Not an NCAA issue.

I don't like the precedent that this sets!

What keeps other women from bringing such lawsuits?

This is nothing more than a money grab.

It's better than the precedent that would be set by fighting this thing in court and losing. Not saying that the school would lose, but it sure wasn't a guaranteed win.

Having a rape culture is not an NCAA violation. Just you know buying kids a meal or giving their dad a job really bad stuff like that. :)

We could've fought this out but in the end public opinion was against us plus the people never fact check so people wouldn't stay educated on it and spew ignorance. Glad to see this end.

Pretty much this. And now the media will find another school to smear. Soon enough we are yesterday's headlines and back to the business of winning football games

Didn't take John Adams long to write another hack piece. I'm mobile so I can't link, but typical.

Also worth noting that this settlement probably comes with a non-disclosure agreement. It's worth it to keep the accusers from going to the press. The school has no chance of winning in the court of public opinion, no matter what the facts are.

It's probably what's best for both the school and the football team. Takes one possible aspect of negative recruiting away. Whether or not it's been effective, I'm sure it's been in opposing coaches' toolboxes.

Does this have any impact on our Alexis Johnson situation? Like do we believe he is more likely to be allowed to re join the team for August now?

I'm displeased in this settlement. This attorney was going to have to prove all of the accusations he made through his media cohorts and that would have been damn near impossible.

Never count on a jury in an emotional case with a lot of graphic testimony. You aren't guaranteed anything.

Very true.

Would have been better to settle immediately, but getting it out of the way before SEC Media Days and two months before the season starts is fine as well.

That's one major recruiting obstacle that has been lifted. Now we just need to win.

This was what was going to happen all along. It happened really quickly in a relative sense. The only issue was when would discovery be completed sufficiently so that an offer or demand could be made. Depositions were not even taken of any of the plaintiffs or Tennessee administration.

These complantiffs will get around 200k each, if even that. That's just sad......

They will be broke in 6 months tops...
