Situation seems identical to Vonn Bell. Tee made a business decision. Just sucks that we haven't made enough strides in the perception of these recruits from Feb 2013 to July 2016.

He trolled. If it were a business decision, he would have been up front with our staff. He said he pretty much knew after his last visit to Clemson that he wanted to go there. Fine. Then why publicly name us his leader after that? If you want it to be a surprise, then don't name a leader. And if you know where you want to go, don't waste your time and ours by attended our OCD. JMO.

I thought GFW posted. Pretty sure BO did. Everybody's saying the same thing-- all info pointed to UT and CBJ thinking we were good with Tee. Which was at odds with local kids saying Tee and Amari were all-in Clemson. Peer recruiting. It matters.

It's funny because people over at 247 constantly downplay friends playing with friends in college being a big deal

Apparently it's a bigger deal than many of us thought- playing with friends, cousins, no one can go out on their own and make a decision themselves it seems. But peer recruiting does matter and I sure wish we had some right about now.

Do we not have anyone at all on Twitter helping recruit like Kmac and Guarantano did?

I really meant that kids are becoming more and more influenced by their peers saying "Come play with us and be part of the dynasty we're building here" than they are by coaches' promises. Clemson and UGA recruits are using this strategy to great advantage. We saw how effective it was with Tee and now Gibbs has commented on it at UGA. UT used it several years ago.

So while part of it is friends playing with friends, an increasingly more important part is elite players being recruited by other elite players to build a "dynasty" that plays for national championships. I'm bummed we haven't been able to capitalize on that strategy this year when we finally have a team that is championship-caliber.

Him "trolling" the staff has nothing to do with with where he ultimately chose to attend college. Based on the information available at this time and the precedent established by both staffs, Clemson has a better chance of putting him in the NFL. Simple as that. Business decision, regardless of how he went about relaying his decision to our staff.

I don't like the way he went about it, and I don't think the passing games of Tennessee and Clemson will be dramatically different during his time in college, but he chose to play for a team that threw for 4,000+ yards last season. Can't blame him. We struggled to throw for over 2,000 every season since 2013.

Hope some of those OCD recruits get a bump because I don't see how on earth we can get a top 10 class without some major movement or major pickups in the next few months. But thanks for the info from Callahan.

I say 3-4 of them will. I think the coaches like Payton but he needs to get his grades up. I think his eval was a .88

What has GFW said the team is angry about?

Pretty sure they are angry about the Title 9 stuff and being labeled a team of rapists by the media and want to go out and defend their coach on the field.

They are also angry they let some games slip away last year.

I think this is what they were referring to.

Well if everything goes perfectly this season we may get a chance to go head to head with Clemson on the field. They're good, but I believe we can beat them.

:eek:k: Thanks.

No Signing Day commitment list under CBJ has looked anything like the commitment list we had in June. And those Signing Days were not coming off a 10-12 win season like we should have this season. Would it make you feel better to already have big time recruits committed in June, sure. Enjoy our best season in...forever, and then complain about recruiting in Feb if this is the FIRST season we don't close strong.

I remember a post or article a couple months ago mentioning Butch may use his rebuild at UT into an NFL gig. While a bit far fetched at this point, not impossible if UT is playing for an SEC title this year. If recruits are hearing or thinking it's possible, It could definitely play into decisions.
