Well, he might. All I know is there's resentment there and he wants to stick it to UT. I'm sure he wants Clemson to get the best players, but it's more than that. It's personal against UT, and Dabo is encouraging it. I would like to think Smith will be a harder pull than Tee, but who knows.

What does the resentment stem from? Why does he want to stick it to UT?

Something is sure up with recruiting there is no debate about that. It all started the day after signing day when Tee decommited and has snowballed from there. That same week this damn lawsuit takes center stage in the media. Clemson has swooped in and taken our star instate players and they're not done yet. Lawrence appears to be going elsewhere, other players are on the fence, it seems like no one wants to come here. I get the games we should have won last year excuse, but that's not hurting GA is it? Haven't they been picked to win how many years in a row and always seem to disappoint but recruits don't seem to mind. We finish the season strong, blast our opponent in the bowl, and it has been one mess after another ever since.

Someone should ping Hubbs and Fort and have them explain UT's recruiting this year so far a little more. It honestly has been baffling. I'm a believer at the moment that kids still have a pretty low view of us because we haven't won big in so long. just wonder if there is anything else?

I'm so tired of not yet being over the hump. I thought our finish last year got us over it, but I guess not.

In any event I expect this will all turn positive in a big way by October when we are top 10 and playing important over-hyped prime time games against major football powers.

Losing to Oklahoma and Florida like we did is what's killing us more than anything else.

Sure isn't hurting Georgia who is picked every season to win the East and they always choke a game away. Hell they were up against us by 3 touchdowns at one point last season. Isn't hurting their recruiting...?

I agree but they've had more recent success than us so.

Guys - UGA loses recruits from the state of GA to us and others every single year. They just have more available every year to lose.

Exactly. Watch what happens if our guys whip UF and Bama this season.

Time to win, not whine.

Yep. Does it sting to lose Higgins? Absolutely. But this year is very very crucial as to how our recruiting pans out. Is there a chance it des not affect Higgins recruitment? Yes. But, if we go 9 wins again it will not look good. 10 wins still would look okay but not where we needed to be. 11 wins is what we need in the season. We get that it will show big time. Last years loss to UF and OU I feared would hurt recruiting and it looks to be doing so. Butch needs to put on his big boy pants and get to work geting through that. His first showing of that was hiring Shoop. Recruits notice that, but not enough to sway them on board. They need to be shown wins. Wins that matter.

Yep. The gifts that keep on giving.

I think CBJ has made all the right moves since then. Fired Jancek and switched out our strength coach. Coached a little looser in tight games later in the year.

It stinks though that those things are still hanging around our kneck. But then again, nobody respects Tennessee football anymore. As fans, we still see the norm for UT as being the 1990s. Pretty much everyone else sees the last decade as the norm.

Need to flip the script this fall.

CZA is the last scapegoat I guess

they will respect us this yr

Yep. I've had more than a few casual college football fans (or fans of schools in other conferences) literally chuckle at me in recent years when I've tried to explain that UT is a football school. They all think we are pretty much a women's basketball school and nothing else. To the extent we've been good at any other sport they see as just a flash in the pan, kind of like Mizzou winning the east or Iowa playing in the rose bowl in recent years. People really don't respect us.
