For those of you in Chattanooga, a well-known and loved radio sports personality has passed away this afternoon due to massive heart attack. Gary Haskew, a.k.a. Dr. Basketball or "Dr. B", passed away this afternoon. It's hard to believe. I just listened to him this Friday on the way home from work. He was a die-hard Vol fan and I'm gonna miss his witty commentary on the air each afternoon. He was 74. Life is short, my friends. Live it well and love all you can.

Stunned! I, too, just listened to him on Friday. Chattanooga sports radio will never be the same.

I remember his first time on the air. He has always been great. I don't know where "Sports Talk" in Chattanooga will go from here. I don't personally know Gary but I will personally miss him.

Prayers for his extended family as they deal with their loss.

I'm so saddened by this! Dr. B, Cowboy Joe, Quake, etc were my introduction to sports radio in my early 20's. That show will never be the same. He was the glue that held it together.

I remember sitting on the hill talking football before the VOLS game at Neyland. He was a good 'un..

Sport Talk has pretty much always been trashed on here. The folks that diss it don't get it. The crazy rumors and goofy stunts were part of the show. Interesting to see how the show will move forward.

RIP, Nurse B and thanks for the laughs!

Gary Haskew was a really good man and I know he'll be missed by all of Chattanooga as well as his compatriots there at the radio ranch and his many fans, (myself included). I have followed Sports Talk and Dr. B since 1990. Definitely no bigger Vol fan than he. I have logged hundreds of hours over the years via radio and most recently internet, listening to the Guys of Sports Talk. Dr. B, you are a Chattanooga Radio Superstar Legend, job well done, may you rest in peace. My heart goes out to his family and friends, many of whom are also dear to me.
The face of Chattanooga Talk Radio has changed, and for the moment is veiled in grief.
