Recruiting Forum Football Talk XXVI

I admit I had hoped the collapses against OK and FL had been forgotten by recruits but apparently they have not. Closing the season strong hasn't helped this class one damn bit. Hopefully this lights a fire under the coaches and players and they play lights out all season long. Winning is the only way to fix this. And hopefully this Tee debacle gets Butch thinking about Azzani and his future. I remember when Eazy said he was as good as gone. Wish now that would have happened.

Durant to the Warriors is way worse than Lebron going to play in Miami. Weak move by Durant his legacy will forever be tarnished now because he sold out and joined up with one of the best teams of all time.

Durant isn't from OKC or even the region and didn't do a live announcement special.

Here's one

This reminds of why there's no team I hate more than Florida. Seems like the calls and breaks always go their way. Or we shoot ourselves in the foot vs them. I know a few Florida fans and they always say I make excuses for why we lose to them but honestly we lose to ourselves more than they beat us. If we don't beat them this year I seriously doubt we ever will again. And I would be willing to fire Butch over another Florida loss. If we can't beat them well likely never win the sec much less a national title.

I said the ESPN special was stupid. But this is far worse leaving one championship countending team for another is weak. KD's ring won't mean anything when they win it next year.

Explain how it is worse.

LeBron joined a playoff team but Durant joined the favorite. Its one thing to be the next piece, it's another to join the best team. Its front running. It's the easiest way out. At lebron had to put some work into it.

Things were much worse on that side of things when guys like Hurd and Malone jumped on board.

Zero shot at a top 5 class imo. I am hoping for top 15 now

Lol. Hoping for top 15? Really?

People too emotional today. Win 10+ and we sign a top 10 class at minimum.

Taking a break. See you guys in August. Go Vols.

I agree with u and said it earlier, if this team wins big like their capable of doing, this class won't look anything like it does now.

How is it that worse?

When Lebron left Cleveland was Miami considered to be as good as the 96 bulls by many people? It's worse no matter how you spin it unless you are a Warriors fan. It showed too when Lebron left Cleveland there was a reason they got multiple number 1 picks in the draft. durant sold out to a team that his choked against. Miami didn't have the best regular season ever either when Lebron picked them. the "desicion" on live tv was the worst part but Durant choosing maybe the best team of all time is weak on his part especially when he was on a contending team already.

The ESPN special was terrible but as far as getting bashed for joint forces with Bosh and Wade this is way worse on Durants side.

I believe the hate and resentment was generated more (nationally) towards his douchey announcement and the PC where he was inferring 6 championships. Kareem bailed on Milwaukee and Shaq on Orlando. Kareem already had a championship and Shaq was in a good place for one. They just left in a less haughty fashion. All that aside, with his third championship freshly salted away he has nothing to prove. As we see on this forum, there are always those itching to hate and peck away at the slightest opportunity. He doesn't need your protection...he's already invalidated them. To his credit when he returned to Cleveland, it was done the right way...best to focus on that and not worry if people do or do not give equitable treatment to every star. :hi:

Very little difference between top 15 and top 10.

I am fine with us finishing in top 15. Outside of that is where the drop off seems to be steeper

The instate loaded talent in the 2017class was supposed to allow us to reload. Not looking good for that

A lot of the top TN talent are similar players. A bunch of 6'2" 190 lb athletes. We took plenty of those guys last cycle. Get Smith, Gibbs, and some solid ou of state talent and we're fine. Personally don't care about landing in state guys as long as we're landing talent.

Admittedly I am salty and looking through orange tinted glasses. But, has anyone else noticed a tone in Clemson's efforts that is...can't even find the words? "Reprehensible" comes to mind. The billboard in Nashville, the flips and the clowning after the fact, and then the perceived intentional school-sponsored, recruiting-sponsored deception during the process (and I'm sure there are more examples that I'm not accounting for) just seems to point toward a smug tone at Clemson. "Smug" is not even the right word. And yes, I feel ILT was either TH or AR trolling VolNation. Did Butch and company do or say something to draw the ire of Dabo and company? Or, is that just how Dabo roles and attacks the threats? If Dabo is orchestrating this, or is in the least encouraging these young men in their efforts to humiliate Tennessee, then...karma happens. If my inclination is accurate, then God help Clemson. This type of behavior tarnishes reputations and could overshadow any previous success while jeopardizing any future success.

I get that this is recruiting, all's fair, but all in all this casts a light on Clemson's program. Respect, from my perspective, will not be shown to them moving forward.

Can't help but feel like today feels like a Sunday after recent Florida losses. Really want to give Tee the benefit of the doubt that he wasn't complacent in this effort to mislead his home town fan base.

My efforts here to come to terms with my disappointment today isn't helping either.

Time to get off the board and attempt to enjoy my 4th. May Butch and staff take this set back and have it fuel the team's aspirations for a BIG Orange season.
