Hurd is faster, more shifty, better at pass pro, better receiver, better at making people miss, and just a better overall running back. Henry was harder to tackle once he got going down the field, but if he didn't get a head of steam he would go down easy. Jalen doesn't get truck sized holes to run through and still gets big yardage. Even Fournette, I know that at one point during the season, he was averaging 5 yards before contact. That is huge. No wonder he had big numbers. Jalen on the other hand was only averaging around 1.5 if memory serves. And yet he is still under 900 yds from Vols all time rushing record even without the advantages those two guys have had.
DT is arguably the most important position on the field in the SEC and it is our weakest and most uncertain.
We need Alexis to be cleared and we need Tuttle at 100%. Not only that we really don't even know if Alexis is any good.
Concerning.
Really bro.
So you think Von lived up to expectations?
JJ may not have the numbers but he was solid with blocking which Von lacked.
Well, Von Pearson was a JUCO transfer so he only had two years as a Vol. Johnathan Johnson had four years here & didn't post too many stats.
Pearson to me was the better WR by quite a bit. He was quicker & faster. Johnson made just about all of his catches on route running. He didn't see the field as much as Pearson either.
Without even looking at the rosters i am going to say bama LSU and Florida.
Edit: possibly more teams. Those are just first three that come to mind that recruit really well at that position.
Florida didn't land a single DT last years recruiting cycle and they have a guy coming back from a worse injury than Tutte.
Was scrolling through the roster and saw Kenny Bynum's name. Thought it must have been a mistake and that he graduated in like 2013.
Didn't he play MLB against Iowa after A.J.'s suspension?
Also, remember when Jakob played MLB vs Vandy? Now he's a TE!
The thought of 10-2 excites me. The thought of it being realistic that we could do more excites me as well.
People expecting 12-0 or expecting an SEC championship are setting themselves up to be disappointed.
I look at our roster and I see about 4 areas of concern. Defensive tackle depth. Solidifying the OT position. Passing game. Defensive back.
So those areas concern me. Hopefully we can answer those questions this season. Reality is that we have areas that aren't SEC championship caliber yet. I think some in here confuse me pointing this out as being a Debbie downer. I'm not. I'm just pumping the brakes while others are looking for plane tickets to watch us in a 4 team playoff.
Ok? We didn't land a DT last cycle either outside of Alexis Johnson who may not be cleared.
Florida has recruited well especially on D. That game will not be a cakewalk as some imagine.
