Phil Fulmer coming up on Finebaum

Finebaum said Phil will be on within the hour for the first time in years to remember Pat. I got the feeling there is bad blood between Paul and Phil. Anybody know why?

Paul was very vocal calling for Fulmer to be fired.



Not interested in the Fulmer debate but always smh seeing Paul get wealthier reporting the chaos that followed.

Ok thank you. Makes much more sense now why Paul was acting like he was surprised Phil was coming on.

Glad they can set aside their differences for something greater than their beef.

I honestly didn't know that. I only started listening to Paul the last few years. Thanks for the info CV

I know it wasn't your intention but thanks for reminding me.

Op, Paul was on the radio in Alabama when Fulmer testified against them.
Even though there were actually several involved, the show focused mostly on one participant.
So it does go back way back and it was great that they could put it aside for this occasion.

Paul is doing a very good show on Coach Summitt. If your not watching you are missing alot.

The callers that are regular joes (not just Vol fans) calling in telling their stories about meeting her even if it was for two minutes is awe inspiring.

I can't bring myself to listen to Finebaum. While we are at it, he annoys almost as much as Deerstone and his morning crew. Almost as much.

Well your in luck, he hardly said a word today and if I'm not mistaken you could hear him sniffling himself.

Look up todays podcast. It's about people calling in and sharing their storys about a wonderful lady, mentor, and a coach second.

That was very big of Fulmer to go on the Finebaum show. Not only did Finebaum call for Fulmer's firing, but he also said some really nasty things about Fulmer's wife on his radio show after Fulmer and the other coaches turned in Alabama to the NCAA. That was back when we were beating them like a drum and Finebaum used his show to say some despicable things about Fulmer and his family. Kudos to Fulmer for overlooking that to pay tribute to Pat.

That being said, Finebaum did a great show today as a tribute. It's probably the only one I will listen to this year.

Given the days events and a very nice show dedicated to Pat, I will postpone my part in any PF debate.
I will say that most posters that say "people don't like him because he's not a homer" etc., are usually unaware of the history.
The thread on what he said about Manning is actually light for his standards.

Finebaum show was great... Hard on the eyes (tears) and hard on the heart... I cried so much today, my wife asked why was I watching if it hurt so bad, I said, I can't help not to watch. I don't wanna miss anything about Pat.

Exactly, it does go back to those days, and then PF piled on when Fulmer and the Vols hit a rough patch. PF is not a Tennessee fan! (as much as he tries to portray himself as that at times when it is advantageous.) He focused the light on CPF during the investigation into Alabama's deplorable recruiting practices most notably in Memphis, but it was actually Steve Spurrier who turned Alabama in. Every coach in the Sec at the time knew what was going on in Memphis and testified against Alabama and they came within a rat's you know what of receiving the Death penalty!!! So don't let PF fool you. He may be the host of the flagship SEC TV show, but as far as Tennessee is concerned he is scum, and don't think for one second if we under perform this year he will be all over it!! However, great to see and hear from CFP on such an important day in the life of UT, and the State of Tennessee!

there's a lot of people in that group with Finebaum that are TN folks that never liked Fulmer. for that generation....really the one before mine, there's a good bit of people that think he back stabbed Majors to get the HC job.

and finebaum was in birmingham. and the TN/Bama angle was a giant spectacle, with the subpoena and missing media days etc....you had fans on both sides at the courthouse making it a spectacle....

PF would have been an idiot not to take advantage, and it's worked out nicely for him.

anyway, long story short, Fulmer is no fan of Finebaum that's for sure, so when i heard he was going to be on, i did make sure i tuned it. credit fulmer for doing what CPS would have done...it was bigger than him or finebaum, it was the right thing to do. and that's all he needed to know.

very cordial interview actually....and all in all PF did a good job yesterday with all of it.

Without doubt, he said enough back then to damage every program in Tennessee. Including the Lady Vols. The family attacks excetera, were well beyond anything I've ever seen from a supposed journalist.
For any of his listeners, it was only Fulmer vs. Alabama.
I don't really care a bit what he thought about Fulmer, but if he's going to pretend to cover Sports, then it seems like the truth and actual facts should have been covered also.

Some will excuse the non-professional tactics he used and portray it as part of the game. But once again, I had never seen or heard anything like that. Scum, don't really care what anyone else says.

He was hated on the fifth floor of Morrill Hall and he is dislike even more now as a UT graduate by those of us who went to school with him. Always had good weed though

Finebaum was, is and always will be nothing but a ****stirrer. He did it a lot during Fulmer's years by bringing Majors and the clown writer from Maryville on his alabamer show to belittle all things Tennessee the week before the bamer game.

It shows class that Phil Fulmer has to go on his show. I imagine that will be one of the very few times he ever does....

Finebaum has always seemed very proud of being a Tennessee Volunteer. As far as where his loyalty lands? He has no loyalty. He has always been a hitman in spirit, even back when all he was equipped with was a peashooter in the early 80's. Somebody was always getting it in the back in those B'ham sports pieces.

However, the network allows him to have great interviews, good current info and some funny context. I give him at least an hour headstart on the ole DVR. That eliminates commercials and all the Darrell's that are as bipolar as Mr. Finebaum himself.
