There has to be some creative mixing going around here somewhere, let's see what you guys have

I call mine the Kentucky Cold Killer

2 ounces bourbon (Maker's and Knob Creek work well)
3/4 ounce Cointreau (you can sub other orange liquers, Patron Citronge works well, triple sec is good when you spent all your money on bourbon)
1/2 teaspoon sugar
1 ounce orange juice

put ingredients in a shaker with ice, shake well and strain into a chilled cocktail glass.

Coke and Rum work well ofr me... my wife and I talked about trying some different concoctions, but kind of hard with a 7 year old. She loves Margaritas, and you know what I like... any suggestions?

if she likes frozen margaritas, I have found that if you take a normal margarita recipe with tequila, triple sec, lime juice and sweet and sour, then slice up fresh fruit (I use mango, strawberry and those very small sweet bananas when they are in season) if you blend it all together with ice it leaves you with a delicious fruity margarita. Great on a hot day.

As for the rum, the one recipe I posted is really good assuming you can shave the ice. I am also a big fan of daiquiris, and not the frozen kind. For those you mix simple syrup (equal parts sugar and water) light rum, and lime juice. The best mix is probably something like 2 ounces rum, 1 ounce fresh lime juice (never use Rose's or any other sweetened lime juice) and 1/2 ounce simple syrup. Also adding a little grenadine to a rum and coke is a nice change of pace sometimes. For rum fans, I highly recommend Mt. Gay Eclipse, very good rum and fairly inexpensive

I'll give it a try, but we can only get it by the drink here (which is so stupid, but anyway...), next time we hit a liquor store I'll give it a shot.

Accidentally found a mixed drink concoction. Was out of coke late one night and had been drinking rum and coke. Had rum left and found I had some creme soda, said what the hell and mixed them together. Dang that was good..

I have never tried that, but it sounds great. What kind of rum, light? It sounds like it would work well with spiced.

Actually I am partial to dark Bacardi. Spiced rum only lasts for a short time for me. After that the spiced thing wears out its welcome.

I'm not that big of a drinker usually. I tend to avoid drinks with a really strong alcohol taste unless I just want to get the job done. I'm going out tonight, so I'm looking for some suggestions on mixed drinks that fit into the good tasting category...

We make jack and coke slushies during the summer.

2 parts Jack
1 part diet coke/ice

blend

Serve in stadium cups from Neyland.

I use diet coke cause it's not as sweet as regular. Jack is sweet enough. Could give a darn about the calories :)

Also, I make a mean Mojito. Those are great during the summer as well, just tasty

SoCo and orange soda is good as well. Can't drink much SoCo these days, but if I have too
