This Akers kid has an impressive film but,

since he's a MS kid and Ole Miss pays and we play by the rules, I think he goes to Ole Miss.

Maybe mom needs a condo on campus? Possibly a job distributing the peanut butter? Pays 68,000 a year. 74,000 if she hands out celery with the PB. We can work it out.

Akers likes us and has the closest relationship with RG over any other position coach.

They think we're in the top 2-3 for him along with Ohio State and Georgia. LSU and Florida State have come on lately. Don't think Ole Miss is much of a factor given the offense.

This guy is near the top of my want list. Would love to get an elite RB this cycle, and restore our rightful place alongside Bama, UGA, and LSU as an RB factory. It's clear our legacy of producing great players at this position has been forgotten.

Look to Ty Chandler, not Akers. Akers isn't coming here. Great RB, would love to have him, but just doesn't seem like he is seriously considering us.

What is your opinion on Akers based on? He has made 4 trips to Knoxville. His mom and step dad have been with him at least twice. I have a hard time imagining that he is not serious about the Vols.

Fortenberry made it extremely clear on the free podcast today that Akers is very serious about us and has a closer relationship with Gillespie than with any other coach.

I was saying that's why they have such a close bond is because they're both from there. I don't think OM is much of a factor.

I believe we get Akers. Gillespie has formed a strong relationship with him and that's always an import factor in recruiting is relationships. Plus he would get the chance to start right away in the SEC when Hurd and Kamara leave.
