The Official Libertarian/Anarcho-Capitalist Thread

All you guys worried about warlords, just think about it this way. The only people rich and powerful enough to even attempt a takeover like you are fearing would be someone like the Kochs.

The Kochs are obsessed with money. This makes you afraid of them. I am telling you that they will make the most money by being relatively good citizens, so they will more than likely be good citizens. Seizing power would be a huge cost that would be extremely risky. To maximize profit, you must minimize cost.

So say there is a crazy rich guy like Trump who has bad ideas, $, and not a lot of real business sense and he thinks it is a good idea to seize power...OK, that's a bit scary, but....there are still the Kochs, Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, Jeff Bezos, Zuckerberg, Bloomberg, etc. who are all rich and powerful and would team up with us to prevent the takeover. It's not happening.

:lolabove:

Let me clarify. Under An-Cap the definition of rich would most likely be different or modified from what we understand it to be today. Without a government, say the US government, dollars would be worthless. A Bill Gates, Zuckerburg, Buffet may not be wealthy or wield power. The rich and powerful would be those that have the strength to control resources. Under An-Cap even a poor slob who is smart and ruthless enough that can inspire followers can rise to the top.

The internet isn't an omnipresent entente that requires no human interaction. Google or any other major search engine can (probably does) control what pops up in a search, so it is very possible for someone with the know how and resources to control the flow of information over the internet, look at China and ME countries for example.

But there are multiple search engines and that's only one aspect of the net. You'd still have to control what CNN.com does. What Drudge Report does. What Twitter does. Etc.

It's not happening. Even authoritarian governments like Egypt and Turkey couldn't control the flow of information 5 or so years ago when there was turmoil. They tried to ban social media, and people used proxies or called their friends in the US and Americans were posting for them. It's only getting harder to control going forward.

They absolutely do...

Here Are 10 Examples of Google Search Results Favoring Hillary

So your utopia will work as long as everyone wants it and is on board with it?

Good luck.

No. It's not about buying into the system, it's about being less of a caveman.
Help a bruddah out here. What is the difference is what you two said? "Getting on board" vs. "buying in" If the difference is that subtle, I guarantee you it will be lost on the ignorant brain damaged liberals.

That article is a huge oversimplification and the strength of its conclusion relies on people not understanding behavior-based algorithms.

Why Google search results favor Democrats.

Say Google is modifying results...all of that is a far cry from removing Vince Foster stories completely from SERPs, and it's not even approaching the idea of actually controlling the net as a whole.

I don't think they are different. I was using them synonymously.

But controlling the net is absolutely doable.

Oh, I get it now. One is a Neanderthal should they not subscribe to your unproven arrogant Utopian view. Thanks for the clarification.

I don't think you get it. Arrogance?

Society progress in general over time, right? Look at all cultures across the world, and as a whole we are less violent than we used to be, we are smarter than we used to be, we have better communication channels, we have more access to information, we have more wealth, technology, etc.

We are less and less cavemen, over time. It's not a jab at anyone. It's not an insult. You're too sensitive.

And for the last time, it's not supposed to be a Utopia.

How does the internet work now? Who runs the servers?

I'm not going to explain to you how the internet works so you can try to come up with some theory on the fly.

You tell me who runs the servers and then you tell me why that means some usurper could control the entire internet.

My guess is that you won't.

If you would have watched your video it would be obvious to you how the internet can be controlled.

As a business owner, I get calls weekly from Google asking me to pay them and they will move me to the top of ANY related search I want.

Are those worth the time? The paid Google ads?

For somebody, it's always worth it, but it's not worth it for everybody. Just because it works for somebody else in your industry doesn't mean it will work as well for you. For example, the main website I market doesn't do well at all with text ads, but it does $280k/month off about $12k in advertising spend thru the Google Shopping channel (the thumbnail product images you see in the link below) and we are super happy with that ROI. Whereas the other website I market does well on both.
