Vols Top Ten Passes of 2015

Then he went full retard with the racial comments

I'm just confused why taking shots at our starting QB is okay.

Especially when he's one of the best in the country.

We don't have a Worley or Crompton under center anymore.

Dobbs has a chance to finish as the second or third best QB in program history.

Just confused why so many feel it's okay to be constantly disrespectful of him.

I can assure you it doesn't have dick to do with his race. He IS NOT ONE OF THE BEST PASSERS in the country....stop with this nonsense. His accuracy is the only knock on him, I think everyone agrees that the other things that he does, he does better than just about everyone else.

He's one of the best QBs period.

And this is what I mean. The guy brings so much to this team and program. Without him we're not a preseason top 10 team or SEC East favorite.

Yet most on here like to keep talking about what he can't do rather than what he can. Why is that?

That's what I mean by disrespect.

I don't see a thread everyday about Hurd not breakaway long runs or Barnett starting each year slow.

Everyone on this team has flaws. Yet many on here seem to just enjoy reveling in what they perceive to be Dobbs weakness.

Just seems weird considering this is supposed to be Tennessee fan site.

Actually no.

I have no problem if you don't think Dobbs is as good as I do.

I only have a problem when someone like OP creates a thread with the sole purpose of attacking our starting QB.

Please explain to me why it's okay for OP to make a thread about the top 10 pass plays video and use it as an attack on Dobbs?

That's why I brought up race.

If you noticed in the Chad Kelly vs Dobbs thread when most argued with me that Dobbs isn't as good as Kelly and I never mentioned race. That's a legit discussion for which it's fair to say I'm wrong on Dobbs.

I only bring up race when there are unfair almost hateful attacks on Dobbs that are really uncalled for.

This thread being the prime example.

Why is it ok for you to make a thread about Dobbs vs Kelly and completely dismiss ANYONE's objective evidence that shows Dobbs may not be a better passer than him? Should we be calling you a reverse racist because you think a black QB is better than a white QB even though said white QB has better passing numbers?

You can't think you can keep playing this BS race card and not get called out on it.

point 1, i actually agree with you. that's level headed, and actually i think most everyone agrees with this sentiment.

point 2, that's in your head. the VAST majority of people that have entered this debate with you willingly acknowledge that he's a good qb, that he's one of hte best qb's in the SEC and respect what he's done for UT the last 2 years....they simply don't deify him, or his abilities as a qb. they've allowed for the fact that he does need to improve as a passer.

that's all.

This is a Tennessee fan site. You would be correct if we were ole miss fans and this was an Ole Miss fan forum. But we're not ole miss fans.

There's nothing wrong with thinking your own is better than someone else.

I've said that myself.

No, you completely missed the point and absolutely avoided what I asked you, but carry on regardless I suppose

And there is nothing wrong with thinking that they aren't. Would you say that Josh Smith is better than Calvin Ridley?

ok, i finally watched the video.

i'd like to compare 119's top 10, to 120's top ten when it's all said and done.

i think 120 should be able to beat 119 in that department...handily.

I'm curious to know who your top 3 QBS in UT history are. For Dobbs to enter that conversation we will need a great season from him!

Did those 3 white QBs have us as a preseason top 10 team and favorite to win the SEC East?

I guess this goes to prove that a black man will be treated the same as a white man that he's 10x better.

Josh Dobbs is the MAIN reason this program has risen from the grave. He's the one getting voted 1st Team All-SEC by the sports information directors. He's the one getting hype from NFL scouts. He's the face of a program expected to compete for CHAMPIONSHIPS.

The fact you think its fair that to treat him the same as Justin Worley and Jonathan Crompton proves my point.
I don't think anyone is being over the top unfair, if you can't see they are purposely saying things to piss you off then your dumber than you come across.

And Dobbs isnt the main reason UT is were it is, is he part of the success? Absolutely but it is asinine to say he is the main reason.

And further more the 3 QBs I listed above were treated FAR worse than what Dobbs has been.

I love Josh Dobbs and everything he has done for this university on and off the field but he is far from the Heisman trophy winner you make him out to be.

Yes, he's our starter. Yes, he should be. Yes, he did amazing things last year and has greatly contributed to re-rise of the program.

But, if you can watch his passing performance and not concede that he has missed a BUNCH of "easy" throws and left even more yards on the table by forcing the receivers to break stride or give up their footing, you're just not being honest with yourself.

Put it this way, if he threw the ball as he has and did not have the many other plus plus intangibles, he wouldn't start for any team in the SEC.

Although, I will also say this:

IF JD comes into the season with even modestly improved and consistent throwing accuracy, he will scare the excrement out of every DC in the NCAA. He'll be a very serious contender for the Heisman.

Why even respond? I would think if you ignored the thread it may stop them from making them. But you love the attention too much. Moth to the flame.

There are four really, really pretty passes by Dobbs in that sequence.
  • Very first one shown (#10) ... pretty, pretty touch. Put in a place where only PWill could get it. Excellent mastery of the craft.
  • The #8 pass, Dobbs to Smith in the end zone ... again, excellent touch. Threaded the ball both on a line and in the third dimension over the top so that neither of the two nearby defenders could make a play on it. Only Smith had a chance to get at the ball. Very well done.
  • The #7 pass, though it looks ugly and forced, is actually very well thrown. Down and inside, Josh hit a 2' x 2' square of space where Ethan could catch it but there was no way either of the nearby defenders could.
  • The #3 pass to Malone was, as Jesse Palmer said on air, perfectly placed.
And there is one pass (Dobbs to Hurd on an inside screen) that's just fine, nothing special, but fine.

Then there are three passes that were off:
  • The #6, to Von Pearson ... Von made a first down, but could've made a lot more with a well-thrown ball that he didn't have to scramble after.
  • The #4, to Kamara ... a bit behind his back/inside hip, it put a jig in Alvin's step that slowed him a bit.
  • The #1 play ... it is hard to tell whether Dobbs' intended target is Smith or Malone, further up field. The line is right for both of them, but the ball is either a bit under-thrown (if Smith is the target) or a lot under-thrown (if Malone). In any case, Georgia's #7 gets a mitt on the ball, deflecting it slightly and amping up the 'degree of difficulty' for Smith's circus catch. So yeah, imperfect throw here.
So for those keeping score, that's five good throws, some real works of art, and three bad throws.

People shouldn't hate on Dobbs because of this video clip. What it shows is a very talented college QB who has a sometimes consistency issue.

And D4H, stop being stuck on race. People in this thread aren't picking on Dobbs because they're racist or even because they dislike Dobbs. I bet pretty most everyone here likes him, is glad he's our QB.

No, they are picking on Dobbs because it's been all of three hours since a thread was started to argue with you, so they cranked up another one. Dobbs and the video are just the bait. Stop rising to it, you'll be happier, we'll all be happier except the trolls who egg you on.

1. Manning
2. Shuler
3. Clausen

I think Dobbs can easily pass Shuler and Clausen with a big year and an SEC title.

Natty + Heisman puts him 1b to Manning's 1a.

Also d4h, I would give anything to see dobbs win the heisman and see the crow eating themed thanksgiving feast that would follow.
