Some good gets. Some questionable takes this early IMO. Glancing at other SEC boards, I didn't see many people very concerned with our haul yesterday. UGA especially and USCe only seemed to be bothered by Lawson.

Agree with this. Most SEC rivals are not impressed by yesterday. I think we got some good players yesterday that will get bumps as we move along. I would also be willing to bet that not all guys who committed yesterday will be a part of this class. History has shown us that this staff is not afraid to take a commitment and then cut guys loose.

You're right. At this point I'd be more shocked if Butch honored all the commitments he took this early. Its happened enough that any borderline recruit who buys into the family stuff and commits in May or June has to know he's on the chopping block starting the same day he committed.

Yep, I agree, interested to see what happens once Vols win east and possibly sec champ game. Wo see how many will be here come feb

who cares USCe thinks ab our day? look at their trash can roster compared to ours right now. And UGA lost to us with a better roster last yr so it doesnt matter what they think.

I think the question in fairness would be how would we have viewed Georgia having the same kind of day yesterday?

I would assume most here wound be laughing at any other elite level SEC team taking that many fringy guys in one day in fact I would bet a lot of $ that's how it would be viewed here

I pointed out something similar earlier. Fact is just about the same situation took place not long ago. Stoops and UK sitting top 10 on 247 and fans on this very board screaming it was garbage as it was just a lot of 3* stockpiling.

-Higgins
-Gibbs
-Chandler
-Smith
-Williams
-Gaddy

and at least one or two late additions/surprises ala Byrd and this class will be excellent even if none of the current commits get bumped, which they will (and some of the lower rated guys will be cut loose).

I would be worried if most of the guys listed above were learning elsewhere, but they're all either Vol locks or heavy Vol leans right now.

We good.

Fant, Bumphus, Jackson, Lawson, and Taylor are not "fringe." 3 are apart of the instate class that everyone raves about. Many love Coleman's tape, and Henderson is a teammate of Holloman's, and they think he is good enough for an offer. Anything else?

I guess when you have a day like yesterday you would feel a lot better if in that group there was a core to build your class around. Like the names you mention

If Butch brings in nothing but 4's and 5's from this point on through NSD, every Vol fan will be happy. So why not believe that is the plan - to finish well on an upswing leading into NSD? There are several marginal guys in the current commits that will go to make room if necessary.

Nearly everybody on here has been in agreement that by winning big games this season the elite players will commit/sign. So let's just enjoy the big weekend and accept Butch & staff know what they are doing.

Part of yesterday was just taking a whole bunch of quality players to get the momentum going. We are top 7 in the country and third in the sec in recruiting. Sure it's because we have a whole bunch of three stars committed. But if anyone can sell a top 7 class regardless of composition to a future recruit its butch jones.
