She basically says the biggest travesty is that students might be too lazy to go to class the next day
"Academics was our collective primary concern, Hart said in May, when the move was first announced. Our goal is to be able to do this with minimal impact to the class schedule.
It didn't take long to see the folly in that.
Tennessee is adding a day to the end of the semester so no class time is being lost. Theoretically, at least. But given that that Thursday is bound to be a daylong party, how many kids are really going to pull themselves out of bed for their Friday morning classes? Or, given that the following Monday is Labor Day, not use it as an excuse to take a five-day weekend?
Its not a good look, and it only furthers the idea that athletics has outsized influence at Tennessee.
Nancy Armour does what for a living? Oh, yeah, she writes for the SPORTS section of USA Today. Ironic that she criticizes the very thing that supports her livelihood? DO AS I SAY, NOT AS I DO!!! Puppet moron.
Just another inflammatory nonstory fishing for clicks. Journalism is dead in this country. We need to change the laws back to where news organizations have to actually report news again. As soon as they were able to start chasing profit before serving the public good the downward spiral started.
Oh please. Most likely any other school in a good size city would do the same thing. Make it sound like UT is an outlaw for doing this.

Read the sentence as it is written, then delete "that that," and read it again. "That" is the most over/misused word in the English language. Over 90% of the time it is either misused or could simply be deleted. Forget journalism, she is not a good writer.
Also there is poor use of a conjunction at the beginning of that sentence, just saying.
Agreed. The journalistic motto now is shoot first, ask questions later. Whoever can get their story out there first, regardless of whether the info is correct, gets all the clicks and exposure. Now, that has nothing to do with this particular story, just journalism in general.
Say what you will about Jimmy Hyams, a lot of people laugh at him for being "late" on every news story, but that's because he still operates in the Golden Age of journalism. Hyams will never post a story unless he has 3 solid sources that he knows personally backing up his story on record.
As for this article, it just shows the ineptitude and stupidity of the author. No self-respecting journalist would essentially call the students lazy and use that as a reason to back up her claim that a university doesn't care about it's education. So, what.......all students at UT now are party-hard alcoholics? That's a gross generalization. I just recently graduated from UT and I can tell you that's not the case. Besides, people skip class most of the time regardless of whether or not they are hungover or if there was a game the night before.
Even schools in smaller towns do it as well. I work for va tech and they cancel classes for football as well. It's a small little thing of a town. Don't even have a Walmart here. Have to drive to next 'city' over to do any shopping. They cancelled class last year for the Ohio state game. It's not just UT.
Armour: The real reason behind criticism of Cam Newton
She is still chapped that Peyton outclassed Cam and is trying to take it out on Peyton's alma mater.
