Lady Vols Recruiting Info

I guess you could say our main list looks like this:

Hayes
Ursin
Dodson
Cooks
Patterson
Harrison
McKinney

and possibles KK, Westbrooks,Parker, Wiliams, and Boothe.

I'll take any four of them hopefully as players are starting to commit we'll see someone for Tennessee.

didn't she transfer from us to Arizona State, then what happened?

She transferred to UCSB for her senior year. Probably saw the writing on the wall once Tennessee recruited over her. She had a respectable year, and dropped 20 points on UConn in the S16 during one of their title runs. Got signed to a WNBA training camp, but didn't make a final roster. She's now on the coaching staff at UCSB.

The question is will we get any early commits/verbals? It seems like everyone else has girls who are immediately saying where they want to go and are committing and with us and the girls we want there is always a wait and see approach

April is not coaching to my knowledge now. Her husband took a job on Steve Alfords staff at UCLA. I think when she transferred to UCSB her parents were the main instigators from what I remember. I may be wrong but I don't think so

If we get any will probably have to be the Tennessee girls. Not sure McKinney holds an offer hope so don't want Vandy getting her.
Patterson is down to four but is taking visits. Were scheduled later on and I think we could win this one if we can beat St. John's the hometown school.

If we don't sign two very good guards this class, we are going to be in trouble. Hayes is really good and right in your backyard, we can't afford to let her get away. Coombs has dropped us, Patterson was more than likely staying in the state of Texas, I have no clue about Ursin. I hope the staff is taking a look at Dana Evans a dynamic guard out of the state of Indiana who can light it up.

I would think she could've already visited St. Johns! I wish Patterson would just follow the path of her idol (Parker) and announce already! I keep hearing about McKinney, you have a link for her so I can check her out and I also hope the local girls will decide already (like C.Patterson just did at Texas)

I want Hayes and Ursin! Like I said before a 5'7" combo guard who can dunk! Her being ranked high after not playing any AAU ball also intrigues me because I think her ranking is genuine and not based on relationships certain coaches/organization may have with certain scouting agencies.

since Texas signed a guard and is full (15) scholarships! Would that not help us with Ursin? Baylor, South Carolina, and us.... her playing time would be best here???

I believe if Patterson will verbal early....the chips may start to fall our way??

Not a lot if info on McKinney but here is what Prospect Nation said about her in the End of the Road tournament.

The class of 2017 is full of promise for Insell and his staff. Point guard Anastasia Hayes of Murfreesboro, Tenn., is currently rated No. 17 in the ELITE 25. The 5-7 dynamo is crafty and explosive with the ball in her hands, which usually leads to scoring opportunities for her and her teammates. Along the frontline is Keondra McKinney of Knoxville, Tenn., who demonstrated an expanded skill set at the End of the Road Championships. Currently ranked No. 14 in her class, she showed polish with her footwork in the pivot. However, it is her length and athleticism that set her apart as one of the top combo forwards in the nation.

The only thing that worries me about Ursin is her desire to play close to home. That means LSU could become a player. If she doesn't go there I don't see her going to Baylor or Texas they are both full. If LSU is not an option we may be her best bet.

I am also worried that like last year Holly narrowing her scope to maybe Dodson, Boothe, and Westbrooks will wait on them before McKinney who will probably turn out to be as good as any of them. I have to believe that if McKinney has an offer she would want to play right here at home without much info on her recruiting hard to know how we stand with her.

I really think these girls are waiting for the best situation for them. I really hate to say this, but I think our program is a "if no one else will take me, I will sign with Tennessee!

She's in our backyard if she can play she should be offered, I hope her lack of size (height wise at 6'1") doesn't make Holly not go after her. The new trend it seems is to go after the 6'3" and ups first and wait on the 6'2 and below Forward/Post players. Sometimes you have to overlook measurables (Webb at Vandy, Dunlap at UK, Davis and Sophia Young at Baylor) none of them are taller than 6'2 but have played a huge role on the block for their respective teams. It's not always about the size!

I think the same thing now that Mickey is there (LSU) the local talent may in fact remain there because of her ability to recruit

That is also what scares me passing up on talent (McCune) while waiting on someone better to sign (McCoy, Cox) and end up have the player you scaled back your recruiting efforts on (McCune) end up else were and you have to go the Grad Transfer route (Nunn) and a 3star prospect who some think will take a couple years to develop to play at this level (Harris) in a position of need and we saw what happened with the last 3star Post recruit we signed (Moore) she barely saw the floor! Please get it right this time Holly and Company because their are no scapegoats this year!

The SEC will be the premiere league in WCBB! The quality of coaches is unmatched. Going underfeated in this league going forward, your team will have to be good, very good.

So excited. We need mo guards and wings please, that can dribble, shoot, and pass, defend too.

I think most of our visits will revolve around football games. I think Hayes has already visited. I think the Patterson visit is setup during football season. I was hoping for the Tennessee player commits early and any others probably around late September or October.
