Corey is black and doesn't have a wealthy family hiring a high powered attorney to defend him or a sympathetic judge that buys the argument that this was just a case of a college boy drinking and not realizing that what he was doing any wrong. Sure the jury convicted the swimmer of three felony counts but it was all just a simple college mistake and the boy will be harmed by imprisonment so we can't have that (I wish I was making this up but that was the judge's reasoning for the sentence - he didn't want to cause harm to the rapist er college boy).

Honestly, it looks like another case of straight up 'affluenza.'

California vs. Tennessee

Furthermore, Brock did not have intercourse with the girl. He was kissing and groping. Terrible situation all around. I feel terrible for the victim, and I'm not defending his actions by any means, but he has been a great friend and most people don't have the correct information. All I'm saying. Mods, can this discussion please be moved to the off-topic thread. TIA

Kissing and groping is rape now? I don't think this is true.

And I assume that you do? There is no way, no way, NO WAY, to justify this! I am sure that the prisons are full of people who were great friends to somebody; just not to the people that they raped or robbed or assaulted.

I didn't know, but it looks like there is some truth to it:

"Turner was charged with rape and three other felony counts. The rape charges were dropped in October, and a jury in March convicted him of assault with intent to commit rape of an intoxicated victim and two charges of digitally penetrating an unconscious and intoxicated victim."

Also, I've read 5 articles since your post about "all he was doing is kissing and groping, all of them said intercourse happened, so I think you're pretty misinformed. The eye witness account of the guys who stopped him was particularly clear on that point.

Digitally penetrating a drugged girl is definitely rape in my book.

They couldn't prove it because he didn't finish (no DNA), but the eye witness who stopped him was very specific about what he saw.

Edit two eye witnesses.

She wasn't drugged, but really drunk. As was he. Sex never happened. And yes, I agree. Digital penetration when the victim is so drunk she passes out should be considered rape. Not saying he didn't commit a crime. But it's ridiculous to compare what he did to what the Vanderbilt football players did. Sorry to stir this up, but he's a friend and it sucks to hear the misinformation.

I know you said that you aren't trying to downplay what he did, but that sounds exactly like what you are doing. I'm sorry your friend made a huge mistake, but how do you know what happened? Were you there? Are you hearing it from someone? Did you hear it from him?

Do you have a non pc bro article that sheds the facts to back up this information? His lawyer should have made it officially known in court.

Not to mention the eye witnesses said they saw intercourse. I'm guessing this guy is telling everyone he knows that sex never happened to save face with his friends. His attorney even admitted it, his defense was that it was consensual, not that it never happened.

I think you're being fed misinformation. Eye witnesses and his attorney both said sex happened, the attorney was just arguing that it was consensual.

I'm pretty sure the witness reported "dry humping," not intercourse.
