'17 MS RB Cam Akers (FSU commit 12/27)

Come on, I mean I'mean not saying we get him, but this is far from over. We will stay on him until he signs with a team, and a lot can change between now and then. Some of you give up so easily, whenever a recruit says anything good about another school. Very happy we have a coaching staff, that is relentless on the recruiting trail, and will not stop, will not quit, and will never give up. Even last year, after losing a gut puncher to the Gators. Followed by the Arkansas disaster. The team had to be feeling low and down. They could have mailed it in and just quit, but they never quit, the coaches and the team never gave up. We won 7 of the final 8, the lone stumble to the Crimson Puke! In my Volnation Fantasyland World, I wish a lot our fans wouldn't quit so easily. I know we always show up in the masses to represent our team, but we as a fan base need to change our attitude. Not to be like the blind Dawg fan and believe we get every single recruit, but to an extent have confidence, that in the end, we have as good a shot as anybody to get most any recruit we're after. Our boys are more battle hardened, learning from the losses, and learning how to win. This year is a year to believe, Vol fans! If you haven't tried it before, go on, get on the train and follow that Orange Rainbow, all the way to the National Title! It's not far fetched, nor will it be easy, and not to be clichéd, but if we take it one game at a time. Give it our best preparation, and effort, in every single game. We have a shot at winning them all. As many have said on here, win this year, recruiting will be easy. I would say these last few years, Butch and Co have done really well. To the naysayers that don't think we get Akers, maybe we won't, but then again, with this staff, and this season, maybe we will. Enjoy the recruiting season, and watch us reap our share of star players. Stay positive Vol Fanatics! We'll be alright!

Okay, so I was tired and not focusing on sentence structure and all. Plus, I forget what literary geniuses I'm dealing with on Volnation. 😆 Thanks, BaldBiker for being gentle with your words, kind sir. 😊

Ole Miss sanctions help us here. They are more of a threat than LSU for landing him.

those are some weak self imposed sanctions.

Basically a slap in the face to the NCAA.

Hopefully they make an example of OM, they are the laughing stock of the SEC at this point.

Also, none of the Tunsil stuff is included in this letter, which means there is more to come for them.

problem there is the NCAA has been slapped in the face so many times it has Stockholm syndrome. I would never bet on the NCAA doing anything to anybody at this point.

Same thing I thought. But he apparently runs a 4.4 40.

I know he's highly rated but I'm not that impressed with his film.

Lol you said the other day that you like Hayden better who looks like he is running 4.9 by bad comp. please stop

Hayden isn't on his level at all

Its amazing what the draft has done for them. They might sign every top kid in 2017.

Good thing for us is 2018 should be a more talented year. So if we can win the natty in 2016 and put 4 guys into the first round in 2017, we could see a similar jump in 2018 recruiting.

Or a CB might just be a guess.

Kids care more about getting to the pros than winning national titles. They'll take both don't get me wrong.

But if one team has 4-5 guys drafted in the 1st round every year and fails to win the title (like Kentucky basketball) but another has no first rounders but wins national titles (highly unrealistic but just play along) I guarantee you top prospects will flock to the team with a more proven track record at getting guys to the league.

Typically however the team with the most players drafted also wins the title.

I don't think it's possible for any team to have 4 or 5 guys go in the first round of the draft every year.

I know. That's why I had to go to Kentucky basketball.

My point still stands. Getting to the NFL is the biggest draw.

I wish kids would consider that it really boils down to the schools that recruit the most elite players and has little to do with the actual coaching.

Yea and everyone acts like Cal is the best "coach" in college basketball. More like the best recruiter who can win with the talent he has.
