9-1-16? (Vols' season opener moved to Thursday)

God bless you, man.

What time do you have to show up for work? if you are driving, you won't get back to Memphis until about 4 AM?

2 that afternoon so still a little time to sleep.

As someone who works weekends my biggest gripe has been when the schedule gets released. Each year the schedule seems to come out later and later; and I'm left picking random weekends in the fall and hoping it's for the Florida/Bama game and not a bye week.

To me it's frustrating because there's a lot more that goes into it a Tennessee Gameday than just watching the game. Whether I'm attending the game, which is rare these day, or I'm at home, for me the whole day is a production of anticipation, having friends and family tailgating either at the game or at home and just genuinely enjoying the day. We only get to do this for the Vols 13 times a year recently, hopefully 15 times this year, that's not a lot. So if plans get changed I can understand why people get pissed.

I'm sure I'll be excited to watch us play, and I like the extra prep time for VPI, but overall I think the cons outweigh the pros. It's at night and not at noon, there are fewer games played that night, but we are still the undercard to the 13th and 14th best teams in the SEC. This isn't a Thursday night kickoff in Atlanta or Dallas versus a decent OOC opponent on ESPN ,it's a home game against App State that screws up a lot of people's plans for Labor Day. Campus and I-40 are going to be an even bigger zoo than normal. Honestly, I hope UT F's this up royally so they will never consider doing this again.

Lastly I say this. I'm sorry for saying, actually not sorry:

THIS. IS. BENEATH. US.

Calling it like I see it. Save the Bama did it too crap, it was beneath them too. Flame Away.

This is hilarious

Open the season earlier.
Way more hype from ESPN building up for this.

Extra time to prepare for VT and Bristol

Moving it is going to make it a lot harder for me and my family to attend, and it may affect my ability to take some extended family as I had hoped.

Sadly, this season might start off with a bit of a fizzle.

Why are they doing this?

Won't there be tons of people from Tri Cities, Chattanooga and Nashville that won't be able to come now because its during the week? Plus, normal people even in Knoxville have to work during the day and aren't going to want to go home after work then come to the stadium.

Someone didn't think this through.

No, someone thought it through and made the right decision.

I'm happy for the people this is going to benefit. I don't know who those people are. It sure as hell isn't me.

I am glad to see the game move. I have to work Friday and Saturday nights so I do not get to go to games. Originally was planning on going to the Chattanooga opener which is also on the 1st but I may make the drive to Knoxville to see Vols vs Appalachian State. Depends on my car and what tickets are going for.
