'16 Turkey C Omer Yurtseven

Hostile are we now. Some ppl just flat out don't like donnie and won't give him any credit like coach Martain or coach Dooley.

I never said anything about my thoughts in regards to Coach Tyndall.

I simply think it's pointless for fans to defend or even glorify the coaching or recruiting ability of a man who lied to all of us the entire time he was here and was handed the harshest penalty that a coach in NCAA history has ever received.

No other coach in the history of college basketball has effectively been banned for 10 years, which is what the show cause has resulted in.

Kinda sad to see Rick Barnes outdone by Mark Gottfried in wooing the Turkish big man.
Hopefully, settling for a Lew Evans when you could have had an Omer Yurtseven will not be a sign of things to come on the recruiting trail.

We don't want UT to become known as the Settlers of college basketball:

Look at the excuses. There's no excuse they was 3 stars. Doesn't matter if ur in the top 100 can still be a 3 star. There's plenty of juco aa that haven't done anything in college. You act like he wasn't about to go to missouri. Or some where along that low. Just talk ya self up doe.

A top 150 player means they are a high rated prospect that needs to develop some. A player rated in the top 150 should start for a P5 team in his career. With work they can develop into an NBA prospect. That is not low rated. Similar to some of our recruits this year. I don't know what you are thinking with some of the asinine things you post.

The comment was meant to induce thought as to the fact that recruiting of good players is possible! Why is the great Rick Barnes not having the same kind of success?

What four or five star did Tyndall have? I don't recall any. The way he cheated we should have had a top 10 class.

Chris Clarke, Romello White, and Rob Gray would have fit that bill. Last season's Kevin Punter, Devon Baulkman, and Detrick Mostella showed good ability as well as recruits Admiral Schoefield and Shembari Phillips.

OMG Tyndall again?????? He gone. Not coming back. He gone. Long gone. Almost dead gone. But he gone. LET HIM STAY GONE.

The guys he recruited aren't all gone yet. Which ones do you want to get rid of?

Sounds like you'd like more seasons under Rick like the last one!

I've come to settle for mediocrity in basketball. Somewhere near the NCAA bubble is going to be the norm for a while

I fear Barnes has come to TN with the agenda to prove you can win championships without the 4 and 5 stars.
Worst season in his history and couldn't win on the road with 4 srs.
Only 2 of his 5 man class actually contributed last season and those 2 were Tyndall's.
Lost all confidence in the man. Hope I'm wrong about him.

Yeah Barnes did pretty bad with that Donnie Tyndall and counzo built team. Let's wait until he has all his players in before we pass judgement. I know patience is a hard virtue for you to understand but all I ask is for you to try.

It's been 1 year and we didn't sign one guy and to be honest, if you thought we would sign Yurtseven then you might be crazy. The teams going after him had way more to offer than a bottom feeding sec team. That would be like saying Jalen Hurd turned down every SEC school to go to Washington state.

well I do think it will take CRB a couple of years to get his type of players into his system,we know he is a proven coach,he will need to have a couple of good years for the Vols and then his recruiting will pick up,a lot

or so i think :) for what that is worth

Well yes. Those that thought the Barnes name might continue to pull in the 4 and 5 star players I guess were crazy.
any who thought he'd continue to put dominating front court players on the floor - well they were just crazy.
Those that think he's going to win more than 16 games a season playing small ball are the sane ones.

But he's said, more than once if I'm not mistaking, that his recruitimg strategy is not going to be the same as most of his time at Texas. He wants players with a high ceiling that will bust their ars and by in. He wasn't getting that at the end in Texas. I'm hoping he is still able to work with that type of talent like he did at Clemson and Providence. But with that process only time will tell.

Sucks I know cause we've had to deal with that in multiple sports a lot recently. But it just is what it is.

His league coaching record at Clemson was 44% and at Providence it was 46%. At Texas it was 66%. Do those sound like HOF numbers? Not to me!

Those are three great basketball conferences full of blue-blood programs. He won the Big East Tournament at freaking PROVIDENCE. Get your **** out of here.

First of all, you have NO authority here! So, don't give me any orders, boy! Secondly, his tournament win was an upset that came in 1994...22 years ago. Thirdly, is that you, rick?

Somewhat ironic that you hold Barnes to this high standard with no regard for his former success (only pointing out his shortcomings and qualifying his successes), yet continue to make every excuse under the sun for a coach who put together a similarly bad product on the court in 1 year, and was an equally bad cheater off of it.

When Tyndall's name is brought up, do you feel uncontrollably compelled to defend his character? Are you that invested in his career and life that you must make it your personal crusade to defend him to the death?

Why can't you just cheer for Tennessee, regardless of coach, and let your Donnie Tyndall love affair go? It's no different than the people who clung to Bruce Pearl for years after he was fired. Are you a University of Tennessee fan, or a University of Donnie Tyndall fan?

I say all this as someone who isn't the biggest fan of Rick Barnes or Tyndall, but I can be objective when discussing them.

The only success that I have seen from CRB leaves me with the impression that he is overrated, even though some here have a budding love affair with mediocrity.

Excellent job completely deflecting the verbal schooling you just took. Not surprised at all you didn't bother answering a very good question.

It would be pretty hard for him to have a recent Big East championship having not coached in that league in over two decades. But that doesn't stop you from bringing up stats to support your agenda. Get your **** outta here, Sarge.

I'm ready to hear all of your pluses to show why he should be considered for HOF honors. I guess that you believe he is more worthy than Ray Mears, who still has not made it.
