About the Rimington Trophy

The Rimington Trophy is presented annually to the Most Outstanding Center in NCAA Division I-A College Football. Since its inception, the Rimington Trophy has raised over $2.6 million for the cystic fibrosis community. The award is overseen by the Boomer Esiason Foundation, which is committed to finding a cure for cystic fibrosis and has raised over $120 million for the fight against cystic fibrosis.



Dave Rimington, the award's namesake, was a consensus first-team All-America center at the University of Nebraska in 1981 and 1982, during which time he became the John Outland Trophy's only double winner as the nation's finest college interior lineman.

Not sure he turned around as much as he has just grown up and gotten stronger and developed his technique along the way. Either way, congratulations to him for the nod.

When they moved Coleman back to his normal position he excelled. Imagine that. Good luck to him.

Really happy Coleman is getting some recognition. I look for this OL to quietly become one of the unsung stars of the league.

I remember he pleaded down the xbox theft thing. That was after he was dismissed from the team.

I haven't seen anything on whether he's in school anywhere or what he's doing now, if that's what you mean.

No doubt. That boy can move. If he's building strength, technique, and endurance, then watch out. It's amazing what a couple of years in college does for a player's development.

He was lost as a goose in Norman when they had him out at tackle. On one play he and Helm went out and blocked air while Eric Striker went right past through a Kenworth sized gap and hit Worley like a sledgehammer. My mind told me it would get better in a few years, but I must admit it was still hard to believe at the time.

Congrats young man.

Always thought that was the worst attempt at blocking I ever saw. Not sure he even blocked air that night. That said, I ragged on him somewhat that year, but knew he was just too young physically. I will gladly give him the credit he is due now. Hard work is paying dividends.

Coleman Thomas is one of the truly great football players on this team. I said a few months back he would be the first center taken when he came out. And I'm sticking to it.

Along the offensive line, I believe he and Dylan Weisman have very long and successful NFL careers.

This O-Line has improved so much, considering the state that Dooley left it in after the Tiny/Ja'wuan James class graduated. Gotta give credit where credit is due; Debord was instrumental in the O-line's improvement and shout-out to Mahoney as well.

This just shows that position changes are not as easy as some think and most freshmen take time to develop and adjust. Coleman Thomas has been one of the better players on the team and I hope he gets all the recognition he deserves. He was forced into a situation he was not ready for and didn't have the ability to play as a freshman. Now he is leaving his mark at a position vital to the team.
