Lady Vols Recruiting Info

Reaves' communication skills and her ability to form relationships, attributes that swayed Warlick, will be important to attracting players. "She has a passion to recruit," Warlick said.

...The Lady Vols pursued top 10 prospects Lauren Cox, Joyner Holmes and Tori McCoy into last fall and missed on all three. In retrospect, Warlick said, "maybe we should've had more of a backup list."

Warlick's regret speaks to the challenge of prioritizing prospects and determining whom the Lady Vols have the best chance of signing. "You have to determine who you have a legitimate shot at and when it's time to walk away," Reaves said.

Next recruiting class crucial to Lady Vols? future

This foul is on Holly not really "CARTER". Holly should have instructed the team not to Foul in the remaining seconds of the game.! That's her job to be on top of game events!

So you know for a fact that no one on the coaching staff said anything about not fouling?

I'm a huge Draya fan. I have been sad about how her shooting has gone down since she arrived at UT.

However, there is NO ONE who has put themselves out there like she has in terms of going after the ball, period! In fact, I am frustrated that we have so few players over the last 4 years that seem to want to get dirty and play all out--too much worrying with their hair instead of focusing on getting the ball away from the other team! Lagging down the court instead of getting BACK and READY! Playing for SELF instead of TEAM!

Off the top of my head, her batchmates Bashaara Graves and Jasmine Jones threw themselves all over the court for their entire playing careers as well. Diamond did the same this past season.

No doubt Carter had a helluva motor, but many of her teammates played just as hard and deserve the same credit.

You and I will have to disagree on that. Did Bash and JJ end up on the floor, showing hustle? Yes, they certainly did sometimes. But nowhere near like Draya has done, year after year. Look back at some of the film.

Jasmine Career is over because she through her body around, she was all over the place defensively just as much as Graves. It may have seems like Carters were of more importance because of the players she had to guard (mostly star players) in the SEC when you think of Foggie and Lister at Vandy, O'Neil, Epps and Thompson at UK, Vivians at Miss State, Tiffany Mitchell at SC, Walker and Jones at Texas A&M, and the list goes on and on

Right, Kitten,,,

Draya played 943 mins.... JJ 102 mins = can't compare

Basha : minutes similar, but was a power-forward, most of her dives were at the box in the "paint-area" baselines, You can't compare her totals to a guard who would have different area's of focus on defense.

Bashaara was battling down low with girls that were taller, wider, and heavier. And she never relented. She deserves credit for putting it all out there.

I can't name one player that Carter shut down defensively. I remember a whole lot that set career records on offense though. :(

Good grief, people: Carter, Graves and Jones ALL played hard. There is nothing to argue about. Jones didn't have much basketball sense, but she and the others played hard. I hope Carter can keep playing.

Warlick's comment, "in retrospect maybe we should have had more of a backup plan," speaks volumes. How long have she been in this business--35 years? You ALWAYS have a backup plan. You chase the 4 and 5 stars but have a plan to sign a 3 star if you top targets prove elusive. It's unbelievable. We should have also signed a scorer this past year--that should have been a priority. The new recruiting coordinator sounds like a strong hire--fingers crossed.

Not taking away from Basha at all.

She did what she did in a different area.
Much smaller in area.
We'll see the true Basha this summer in the WNBA

Maybe the previous recruiting coordinator wanted her to go after these, while Holly was open to looking at others. Everyone knew that TN was not getting Cox or Holmes last year, but yet, someone on staff wanted to keep going after them. McCoy was set on coming to TN until her Dad wanted her sister on scholarship too, but Holly doesn't play that game, so McCoy didn't come.

It's the RC job to evaluate who they believe will come to Tennessee, to get them on campus and let the HC close the deal. If there are no deals to close, like in 2016, what is the HC supposed to do. There were plenty of posts that wanted to come to TN, but were not pursued. That falls on the RC, who is being paid to do this job.

Corsaro visited UCLA this past weekend. She has three more visits to go and I assume she will pick a school from the four visits. Hopefully we get one but if not just move on and hope for a good class in 2017.

Yes, she holds an offer

Any word on who else holds an offer? Also I really think our chances of landing Danielle Patterson gets better everyday. Candace Parker is her idol and she retweets pretty much everything that is posted about Candace. I wonder if we can have Parker help seal the deal (Be in Knoxville during her official visit)!

That would be a NCAA violation.

Patterson, KK, Dodson, Hayes, Harrison, Westbrook, Coombs, Eleah Parker, Sidney Cooks all hold unconditional offers, which means if they called and said they were coming, Tennessee would take them.

Others may have conditional offers, and scholarships might be pulled depending on who commits.

I know that but how has UConn been able to get away with former players training with players on current team during recruit visits?
